Jacksboro is a town located in Campbell County, Tennessee, in the United States. It is the main town where the county government is located, also known as the county seat. In 2020, about 2,306 people lived there.

History of Jacksboro
Jacksboro was started in 1806. It was chosen to be the permanent county seat for the new Campbell County. The land for the town square was given by Hugh Montgomery, one of the first people to settle in the area.
The town was first called Walnut Grove. In 1819, its name was changed to "Jacksonboro" to honor Andrew Jackson. He was a famous American general and later became the seventh President of the United States. Over time, the name was shortened to "Jacksboro."
Geography of Jacksboro
Jacksboro is found at 36°19′53″N 84°11′20″W. The town is located near a special L-shaped part of Powell Valley. This valley is formed where Cumberland Mountain and Cross Mountain meet. Cumberland Mountain is a long ridge that runs from northeast to southwest. Cross Mountain is a tall peak, about 3,534 feet (1,077 meters) high, that stands out to the west.
Two creeks, Big Creek and Cove Creek, flow through Jacksboro. Big Creek is in the eastern part, and Cove Creek is in the western part. Both of these creeks are part of the Norris Lake system. This system is connected to the Clinch River. A river system like this is called a watershed.
Jacksboro is mainly located along U.S. Route 25W. It is about 2 miles (3.2 km) northeast of Interstate 75. It is also about a mile northeast of Cove Lake State Park, a popular place for outdoor activities. Nearby towns include Caryville to the southwest and LaFollette to the northeast.
The town covers a total area of about 2.6 square miles (6.7 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
