Jacob Tsimerman (born April 26, 1988) is a brilliant Canadian mathematician. He was born in the Soviet Union and now teaches at the University of Toronto. He is famous for his work in number theory, which is a branch of mathematics that studies whole numbers and their properties.

During high school, Jacob showed incredible talent in math. He represented Canada in the International Mathematical Olympiad twice. He won gold medals in both 2003 and 2004. In 2004, he even achieved a perfect score, which is a very rare accomplishment!

University and Advanced Studies

Jacob started his university studies at the University of Toronto when he was just 16 years old. He completed his bachelor's degree in mathematics in only two years, graduating in 2006.

He then went on to Princeton University for his advanced studies. He earned his PhD in 2011. His doctoral advisor, Peter Sarnak, is also a very famous mathematician.

A Brilliant Career in Mathematics

After finishing his PhD, Jacob worked as a researcher at Harvard University. In 2014, he received a special award called a Sloan Fellowship. This award helps promising young scientists continue their important research.

Later in 2014, he became an assistant professor at the University of Toronto. He is now a full professor there, teaching and doing research in mathematics.

Jacob has received many important honors for his work. In 2018, he was an invited speaker at the International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM). This is a huge honor, as only the most influential mathematicians are asked to speak.
