Jacob Tsimerman was born in Kazan, Russia, on April 26, 1988. In 1990, his family moved to Israel. They later moved to Canada in 1996.

He attended the University of Toronto Schools for high school. There, he showed great talent in mathematics. He represented Canada in the International Mathematical Olympiad. He won gold medals in both 2003 and 2004. In 2004, he achieved a perfect score.

University and Advanced Studies

Tsimerman started university at the young age of 16. He studied at University College, part of the University of Toronto. He earned his bachelor's degree in mathematics in just two years, graduating in 2006.

He then went on to Princeton University for his advanced studies. He completed his PhD in 2011. His doctoral advisor, who guided his research, was the famous mathematician Peter Sarnak.
