Early Life and Training
When he was young, Jacopo learned how to paint from an artist named Maso da San Friano. Jacopo, along with other artists like Santi di Tito, started a new way of painting. This style was often clearer and less complicated than the earlier "Mannerist" style used by painters like Vasari. The Mannerist style often had twisted figures and crowded scenes.
Artistic Style and Works
Jacopo da Empoli's paintings were known for being sharp and easy to understand. He often painted religious scenes and portraits. He also worked with another artist, Alessandro Tiarini, on some projects.
Later in his career, after the 1620s, Jacopo started painting many amazing still-life pictures. Still-life paintings show objects like fruit, flowers, or everyday items. This was a new type of art for Florentine painters at the time.
