Jacques Dutronc (born April 28, 1943) is a famous French singer, songwriter, guitarist, and actor. He is known for hit songs like "Il est cinq heures, Paris s'éveille" and "Les Cactus".

In the 1960s, he wrote popular songs for singer Françoise Hardy before becoming a successful solo artist. His music mixed traditional French pop and French rock with styles like psychedelic rock and garage rock. He was a key figure in the Yé-yé music movement, which was a fun and upbeat style of pop music in France.
According to the music website AllMusic, Dutronc is "one of the most popular performers in the French-speaking world."
Later, Dutronc became a movie star, starting in 1973. He won a César Award for Best Actor for his role in the 1991 film Van Gogh. He married Françoise Hardy in 1981, and they have a son, Thomas Dutronc, who is also a musician. The couple separated in 1988 but never divorced.

Music Career
The Swinging Sixties
In 1966, a record producer asked Dutronc to record his own version of a song called "Et moi, et moi, et moi". The song was a huge success and reached number 2 on the French music charts. This launched his solo career.
His first album, also released in 1966, sold over a million copies. He followed it up with more hits, like "Les play boys", which was number one for six weeks.
Dutronc became one of France's biggest music stars. His early songs were often described as a French style of garage rock. Like other famous songwriters of the time, such as Bob Dylan, he wrote catchy melodies with clever lyrics.
