Jagual is a small area, like a neighborhood, in the town of Patillas, Puerto Rico. In 2010, about 363 people lived there. It is known as a "barrio," which is how Puerto Rico divides its towns into smaller parts.
A Look Back: History of Jagual
Puerto Rico used to be controlled by Spain. After the Spanish–American War in 1898, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This was part of a deal called the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Since then, Puerto Rico has been a territory of the United States.
In 1899, the U.S. government counted everyone in Puerto Rico. They found that Jagual and a nearby area called Cacao Alto had 1,018 people living there together.

In Puerto Rico, "barrios" are like big neighborhoods or divisions within a town. These barrios are then divided into even smaller local areas. These smaller areas are called sectores (which means sectors in English).
The types of sectors can be different. Some are simply called "sector." Others might be called "urbanización" (a housing development), "reparto" (a land division), "barriada" (a smaller neighborhood), or "residencial" (a housing project).
