Jahmai Fitzgerald Jones was born on August 4, 1997. He is an American professional baseball player. Jahmai plays as an outfielder and second baseman for the Detroit Tigers in Major League Baseball (MLB). He first played in MLB in 2020 with the Los Angeles Angels. He also played for the Baltimore Orioles, Milwaukee Brewers, and New York Yankees.

Early Life and Baseball Journey
High School Sports Star
Jahmai Jones went to the Wesleyan School in Peachtree Corners, Georgia. When he was a freshman and sophomore, he played football. He caught 76 passes for 1,137 yards and scored 12 touchdowns. After that, he decided to focus only on baseball.
As a senior, Jahmai was a fantastic baseball player. He hit for a .464 batting average. He also hit eight home runs and had 21 runs batted in (RBIs). Plus, he stole 40 bases, which is a lot! Because of his great season, he was named the Gwinnett Daily Post Baseball Player of the Year. The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim chose him in the second round of the 2015 Major League Baseball draft.
Professional Baseball Career
Starting with the Angels
Jahmai Jones began his professional baseball career in 2015. He played for the Arizona League Angels. He had a .244 batting average, hit two home runs, and stole 16 bases. In 2016, he started with the Orem Owlz and later moved to the Burlington Bees. That year, he batted .302 with four home runs and 20 stolen bases.
In 2017, Jahmai played for both Burlington and the Inland Empire 66ers. He had a combined batting average of .282. He also hit 14 home runs and stole 27 bases. In 2018, he played for Inland and the Mobile BayBears. He hit 10 home runs and stole 24 bases. In 2019, Jahmai spent the whole season with the Mobile BayBears. He hit five home runs and stole nine bases. After that season, he played in the Arizona Fall League. He was also added to the Angels' main roster.
Jahmai made his MLB debut on August 31, 2020. He entered the game as a pinch runner. On September 26, 2020, he got his very first hit in the major leagues. It was against Tony Gonsolin of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Time with Other Teams
Baltimore Orioles
On February 2, 2021, Jahmai was traded to the Baltimore Orioles. He was sent to their Triple-A team, the Norfolk Tides. In May 2022, he had a surgery called Tommy John surgery to help his arm. He was later released from the team. In 2021, he played 67 times for Baltimore and had three RBIs.
Los Angeles Dodgers
Jahmai signed a minor league contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers on July 23, 2022. In 2023, he played 62 games for the Triple–A Oklahoma City Dodgers. He had a .293 batting average, hit nine home runs, and had 34 RBIs. On July 1, 2023, he decided to become a free agent.
Milwaukee Brewers
On July 3, 2023, Jahmai signed a major league contract with the Milwaukee Brewers. He joined their main team right away. On that same day, he got his first hit as a Brewer. It was a double that tied the game and brought in three runs! He played seven games for Milwaukee. He was later designated for assignment in February 2024.
New York Yankees
On February 28, 2024, the New York Yankees claimed Jahmai. He made the Yankees' team for Opening Day. Jahmai hit his first major league home run on May 12. He played 33 games for the Yankees, hitting one home run and having four RBIs. He was later sent to the Triple–A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders. He became a free agent in November.
Joining the Detroit Tigers
On November 20, 2024, Jahmai Jones signed a minor league contract with the Detroit Tigers. He played 52 games for their Triple-A team, the Toledo Mud Hens. He had a .276 batting average, hit six home runs, and stole eight bases. On June 6, 2025, the Tigers added Jahmai to their main roster. He is currently playing for them.
Family Life
Jahmai comes from a family of athletes. His father, Andre Jones, played football in the National Football League (NFL) for the Detroit Lions. Sadly, his father passed away in 2011. Jahmai's brother, T. J. Jones, was also an NFL wide receiver. His other brother, Malachi Jones, also played as a wide receiver.
