Jai Stephen Courtney (born on March 15, 1986) is an actor from Australia. He grew up in Sydney and started acting when he was a teenager. He had small parts in movies and TV shows. Jai also studied acting at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
He became well-known for playing Eric Coulter in The Divergent Series (2014–2015). He also played Kyle Reese in Terminator Genisys (2015). Another famous role is Captain Boomerang in the DC Extended Universe films Suicide Squad (2016), The Suicide Squad (2021), and The Flash (2023). Jai Courtney also received praise for his role in the movie Buffaloed (2019).

Jai Courtney was born in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. He grew up in a place called Cherrybrook. His father worked for an electricity company. His mother was a teacher at Galston Public School. Jai and his older sister went to that school.
When he was young, Jai played Rugby and joined the drama club. He later went to Cherrybrook Technology High School. After that, he studied acting at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. He finished his studies there in 2008.

Starting Out in Acting (2005–2013)
Jai Courtney's first acting job was in a short film called Boys Grammar in 2005. In 2008, he had a role in the Australian TV show Packed to the Rafters. He also appeared in another popular show called All Saints.
In 2010, he played a character named Varro in the TV series Spartacus: Blood and Sand. He was in 10 episodes of this show. Later, he starred in the movie Jack Reacher (2012) with Tom Cruise. He also played Jack, the son of John McClane, in A Good Day to Die Hard (2013) with Bruce Willis.
Big Roles and Popular Movies (2014–Present)
In 2014, Jai Courtney played Eric in the science fiction movie Divergent. Eric was one of the leaders of the Dauntless group. Later that year, he was in Unbroken and The Water Diviner.
He played Eric again in Insurgent in 2015. This was a sequel to Divergent. In the same year, he starred as Kyle Reese in the action film Terminator Genisys. He worked on both Insurgent and Terminator Genisys at the same time.
In 2015, Jai Courtney also joined the cast of Suicide Squad. He played the character Captain Boomerang. This movie was part of the DC Extended Universe. In 2017, he acted in a play called Macbeth for the Melbourne Theatre Company.
In 2019, he played a character named Wizz in the movie Buffaloed. This was a crime comedy-drama film. His acting in this role was well-received. Personal Life
Jai Courtney has several tattoos. These include a rope, a skull, and a dog. His co-star from Suicide Squad, Margot Robbie, gave him two tattoos. One tattoo says "QLD" for Robbie's home state, Queensland, after he lost a bet. She also gave him a tattoo that says "SKWAD" to remember their work on the film. Jai Courtney has also provided backing vocals for a song by the band Pinch Hitter.
