Seyed Jalal Hosseini (Persian: سید جلال حسینی), born on February 3, 1982, is a famous former Iranian football player. People often call him Seyyed Jalal or Jalal Hosseini. He was a strong centre-back (a type of defender) and was the captain of the well-known Iranian club Persepolis.
Jalal also played for Iran's national teams. He was part of the under-23 team twice for the Asian Games. He even won a bronze medal in 2006. He also played for the main Iran national team in big tournaments like the AFC Asian Cup (in 2007, 2011, and 2015) and the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Early Life and Football Start
Jalal Hosseini was born on February 3, 1982, in Bandar-e Anzali, a city in Gilan Province, Iran. He studied German in college.
Club Football Journey
Jalal Hosseini played for several football clubs during his career. He was known for being a very reliable defender.
Playing for Saipa
Hosseini joined Saipa in 2005 after playing for Malavan. He was a very important player for Saipa. In the 2006–07 season, he helped Saipa win the league championship. He also played for Saipa in the AFC Champions League, which is a big competition for clubs in Asia.
Time with Sepahan
In 2009, Hosseini moved to Sepahan. He quickly became a regular player there. He helped Sepahan win the Persian Gulf Cup three times in a row! After three successful years, he left Sepahan in 2012. He was known as one of the best centre-backs in the league.
First Time at Persepolis
Hosseini signed with Persepolis in 2012. He was considered the best defender in the Iran Pro League during this time. He played a big part in Persepolis finishing second in the league in 2014. He was even named the best defender for the 2013–14 season.
Playing Abroad: Al-Ahli
In 2014, Jalal Hosseini moved to Qatar to play for Al-Ahli in the Qatar Stars League. He played there for one year before returning to Iran in 2015.
Short Stay at Naft Tehran
After his time in Qatar, Hosseini joined Naft Tehran. He helped the team reach the quarter-finals of the 2015 AFC Champions League. However, he left the club before the next season due to problems with player payments.
Return to Persepolis and Retirement

In 2016, Hosseini returned to his former club, Persepolis. He was named the team captain for the 2016–17 season. He led Persepolis to win the Persian Pro League multiple times in a row. He was a key player and a big reason for their success.
The Asian Football Confederation website even called Hosseini a "solid defender" for Persepolis.
On June 25, 2022, Jalal Hosseini announced he was retiring from playing football. He said it was a "difficult" but "right" decision. At that time, he had won 9 league titles, making him one of the most successful Iranian players ever. Many people hoped he would start coaching right away.
International Football Career
Jalal Hosseini was part of the Iran U23 national team and played in the 2006 Asian Games. He played his first game for the main senior national team in February 2007.
He played in all four of Iran's matches at the 2007 Asian Cup and scored Iran's first goal in that tournament. He also played in qualifying matches for the 2010 FIFA World Cup and 2014 FIFA World Cup.
In 2014, he was chosen to be part of Iran's squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup. He was also in the squad for the 2015 AFC Asian Cup. In 2016, France Football magazine named him one of the top 3 defenders in the world during the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
He was in Iran's first squad for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, but he did not make the final team. On December 1, 2018, Hosseini announced his retirement from international football.
