Seyyed Jalal Hosseini (born February 3, 1982) is a famous former Iranian football player. People often call him Seyyed Jalal or Jalal Hosseini. He played as a centre-back (a defender) and was the captain of the Iranian club Persepolis.
Jalal Hosseini also played for Iran's national under-23 team twice. He won a bronze medal at the 2006 Asian Games. He represented Iran in several big tournaments, like the 2007 AFC Asian Cup, 2011 AFC Asian Cup, 2015 AFC Asian Cup, and the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

Early Life and Education
Jalal Hosseini was born on February 3, 1982, in Bandar-e Anzali, a city in Gilan Province, Iran. He studied German at university.

Playing for Saipa
In 2005, Hosseini joined Saipa from Malavan. He was a very reliable player for Saipa. In the 2005–06 season, he played almost every game. He continued to play strongly in the 2006–07 season and helped Saipa win the league title! He also played in the AFC Champions League for Saipa.
Time with Sepahan
Hosseini moved to Sepahan in 2009. He quickly became a key player there. He helped Sepahan win the Persian Gulf Cup three times in a row! After three years and 94 league games, he left Sepahan in 2012. He was known as one of the best defenders in the league.
First Time at Persepolis
Hosseini signed with Persepolis in 2012. He quickly became a fan favorite. He extended his contract in 2013, staying with the team until 2014. Many people thought he was the best defender in the Iran Pro League. He played a big part in Persepolis finishing second in the league in 2014. He was even named the best defender of the 2013–14 season.
Playing in Qatar
On July 17, 2014, Hosseini joined Al-Ahli in Qatar. He played there for one year before leaving in May 2015.
Back in Iran with Naft Tehran
After playing in Qatar, Hosseini returned to Iran. He joined Naft Tehran in 2015. With him, Naft Tehran reached the quarter-finals of the 2015 AFC Champions League. However, he left the club before the next season due to issues with unpaid salaries.
Return to Persepolis

In 2016, Hosseini rejoined his former club, Persepolis. Soon after, he was named the team captain for the 2016–17 season. He led Persepolis to win the Persian Pro League title two times in a row! He was a very important player for the team.
The Asian Football Confederation website even praised Hosseini as a strong defender for Persepolis.
On June 25, 2022, Hosseini announced he was retiring from playing football. He said it was a "difficult" but "right" choice. With nine league titles, he is considered the most successful Iranian player in this area. Many hoped he would start coaching right away.
International Career Highlights
Jalal Hosseini was part of the Iran U23 national team. He played in the 2006 Asian Games. He played his first game for the senior national team in February 2007.
In July 2007, he joined Team Melli (Iran's national team) again. He played in all four of Iran's matches at the 2007 Asian Cup. He even scored Iran's first goal in their opening match against Uzbekistan.
He was called up for the 2010 FIFA World Cup qualification and 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification matches. He also played in the 2011 AFC Asian Cup qualification and 2015 AFC Asian Cup qualification. He was part of the team for the West Asian Football Federation Championship 2010 and the 2011 AFC Asian Cup. On June 1, 2014, he was chosen for Iran's 2014 FIFA World Cup team. He was also selected for the 2015 AFC Asian Cup team.
In 2016, France Football magazine named Hosseini as one of the top 3 defenders in the world for the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualification. In May 2018, he was in Iran's first team for the 2018 World Cup but did not make the final squad. On December 1, 2018, Hosseini announced his retirement from international football.
