There, he played college baseball for the Pepperdine Waves team. In 1989, Jalal played collegiate summer baseball. He joined the Wareham Gatemen in the Cape Cod Baseball League. He was even chosen as an all-star player in that league.
Joining Professional Teams
The New York Yankees picked Jalal Leach in the seventh round of the 1990 Major League Baseball Draft. This was a big step towards his professional career. Before the 1998 baseball season, the San Francisco Giants made a trade. They got Jalal Leach and Scott Smith from the Seattle Mariners. In return, the Mariners received David McCarty.
