The Jalan Besar MRT Station (DT22) is an underground Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) station in Singapore. It is part of the Downtown Line. This station is located in the Rochor area, right under a road called Jalan Besar. It is at the spot where Jalan Besar meets Weld Road.
The station used to be known as Sungei Road. A famous market called Sungei Road Market was once near this station. Also, the Sim Lim Tower building is close by.
Station Connections
Jalan Besar station is very convenient for getting around. You can walk from here to other MRT stations easily.
- It's only about a five-minute walk to Rochor station. This station is also on the Downtown Line.
- You can also walk to Bugis station. Bugis station serves both the Downtown Line and the East West Line.
These walks let you make an "out-of-system transfer." This means you can switch between different train lines or even different parts of the same line by walking above ground.
History
Jalan Besar MRT Station officially opened on October 21, 2017. It has been helping people travel around Singapore ever since.
