Jamahl Mosley (born October 6, 1978) is an American professional basketball coach. He is currently the head coach for the Orlando Magic, a team in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Before becoming a coach, he played college basketball for the Colorado Buffaloes and then played professionally for four seasons in other countries.
Mosley started his coaching career in 2005. He first worked as a player development coach for the Denver Nuggets. Later, he became an assistant coach for the Nuggets, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Dallas Mavericks. After seven years with the Mavericks, Mosley was hired as the head coach for the Orlando Magic in 2021.

Early life and high school
Jamahl Mosley was born on October 7, 1978, in Milwaukee. He was the second child of James and Deborah Mosley. When he was 6, his parents divorced. At age 13, he moved to San Diego with his mother and brother.
Mosley went to Rancho Buena Vista High School. In 1997, he was named the California Interscholastic Federation Player of the Year. This award recognized him as the best high school player in California that year.
Playing career
Mosley played college basketball for the Colorado Buffaloes. In 2000, he was chosen for the third-team All-Big 12. This meant he was one of the top players in the Big 12 Conference.
His professional playing career began in 2001 in Mexico with Petroleros de Salamanca. After that, he joined the Victoria Titans in Australia's National Basketball League (NBL). In 2002, he won the Best Sixth Man award in that league.
In 2003, Mosley signed with Baloncesto León in Spain and played there for one season. He then played for two different teams in the 2004–05 season. He played for Korihait in Finland and the Seoul Samsung Thunders in South Korea. After that season, he finished his playing career.
Coaching career
Mosley started his coaching journey in 2005 with the Denver Nuggets of the NBA. He began as a player development coach and scout. This role involved helping players improve their skills and finding new talent. In 2007, he was promoted to an assistant coach.
From 2010 to 2014, Mosley worked as an assistant coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers. Then, in 2014, he joined the Dallas Mavericks as an assistant coach. In 2018, he took on an important role as the Mavericks' defensive coordinator. This meant he was in charge of the team's defense strategies.
On April 2, 2021, Mosley got a chance to be an acting head coach for the Mavericks. This happened when their head coach, Rick Carlisle, had to be away due to a positive COVID-19 test. Mosley led the Mavericks to a 99–86 victory over the New York Knicks.
Orlando Magic head coach
On July 11, 2021, Jamahl Mosley was officially named the head coach of the Orlando Magic. This was a big step in his career, becoming a head coach in the NBA.
Under his leadership, the Magic have been improving. On March 12, 2024, Mosley agreed to a 4-year extension with the Magic. This shows that the team believes in his coaching and his vision for the future. In the 2023-24 season, he led the Magic to finish first in their division and make it to the playoffs.
