Jamahl Malcolm Mosley (born October 6, 1978) is an American professional basketball coach. He is currently the head coach for the Orlando Magic team in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Before becoming a coach, he played college basketball for the Colorado Buffaloes. He also played professionally for four seasons in other countries.
Mosley started his coaching journey in 2005. He worked as a player development coach for the Denver Nuggets. Later, he became an assistant coach for the Nuggets, Cleveland Cavaliers, and Dallas Mavericks. In 2021, after seven years with the Mavericks, Mosley was hired as the head coach for the Orlando Magic.

Early Life and High School Basketball
Jamahl Mosley was born on October 7, 1978, in Milwaukee. He was the second child of James and Deborah Mosley. When he was 6, his parents divorced. At age 13, he moved to San Diego with his mother and brother.
Mosley went to Rancho Buena Vista High School. There, he was named the California Interscholastic Federation Player of the Year in 1997. This award recognized him as the best high school player in California.
Jamahl Mosley's Playing Career
Mosley played college basketball for the Colorado Buffaloes. In 2000, he was chosen for the third-team All-Big 12. This meant he was one of the top players in his college conference.
His professional playing career began in 2001 in Mexico. He played for Petroleros de Salamanca. After that, he joined the Victoria Titans in Australia's NBL. In 2002, he won the Best Sixth Man award. This award goes to the best player who usually comes off the bench.
In 2003, Mosley signed with Baloncesto León in Spain. He played there for one season. He then played for Korihait in Finland and the Seoul Samsung Thunders in South Korea. He finished his playing career in 2005.
Jamahl Mosley's Coaching Journey
Mosley started his coaching career in 2005 with the Denver Nuggets. He worked as a player development coach and scout. This role helps players improve their skills. In 2007, he was promoted to an assistant coach.
From 2010 to 2014, Mosley was an assistant coach for the Cleveland Cavaliers. He then joined the Dallas Mavericks as an assistant coach in 2014. In 2018, he became the Mavericks' defensive coordinator. This meant he was in charge of the team's defense.
On April 2, 2021, Mosley got a chance to be an acting head coach. This happened when the main coach, Rick Carlisle, was out due to illness. Mosley led the Mavericks to a 99–86 victory against the New York Knicks.
On July 11, 2021, the Orlando Magic officially named Jamahl Mosley as their new head coach. He has been leading the team since then. On March 12, 2024, Mosley signed a 4-year extension with the Magic. This shows the team believes in his leadership.
