Jamar Andrew Taylor (born September 29, 1990) is a former professional football player. He played as a cornerback in the National Football League (NFL). A cornerback is a defensive player who tries to stop the opposing team's passes.
Jamar played college football for the Boise State Broncos. The Miami Dolphins picked him in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft.

Early Life and High School Football
Jamar Taylor was born in San Diego, California. He grew up in La Mesa, California.
He went to Helix High School and played high school football there. He was a talented player for the Helix Highlanders.
College Football Career
Jamar went to Boise State University. He played for the Boise State Broncos football team from 2008 to 2012.
During his time in college, he made 132 tackles. He also had seven interceptions and four sacks. An interception is when a defensive player catches a pass meant for an offensive player. A sack is when a defensive player tackles the quarterback behind the line of scrimmage.
In 2012, his senior year, he was named a first-team All-Mountain West Conference (MWC) player. This means he was one of the best players in his college football conference.
Besides football, Jamar was also a track and field athlete at Boise State. He was very fast, running the 100 meters in 10.72 seconds in 2012.
Becoming a Professional Player
Before the NFL draft, Jamar was invited to the NFL Combine. This is where college players show off their skills to professional teams. Experts thought he would be picked in the first or second round of the draft.

Playing for the Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins chose Jamar Taylor in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft. He was the 53rd player picked overall.
First Season (2013)
In June 2013, the Dolphins signed Jamar to his first professional contract. He joined the team and worked hard to earn a spot.
He played his first professional game on September 30, 2013. He made one tackle in that game. In his first year, he played in nine games and had three tackles.
Second Season (2014)
In 2014, Jamar competed for a bigger role on the team. He became the Dolphins' third cornerback.
He got his first chance to start a game on November 13, 2014. He made seven tackles in that game. He started three games that season. He finished the year with 31 tackles in 12 games. He was later placed on the Injured reserve list due to a shoulder injury.
Third Season (2015)
Jamar continued to compete for a starting spot in 2015. He played in the first game of the season and made nine tackles.
He started six games during the season. He had 48 tackles, four pass deflections, and one fumble recovery. A pass deflection is when a defensive player touches or knocks down a pass. A fumble recovery is when a player picks up a ball that an opponent dropped.
Playing for the Cleveland Browns
In April 2016, Jamar was traded to the Cleveland Browns. This meant he moved to a new team.
First Season (2016)
Jamar became a starting cornerback for the Browns in 2016. He started 14 games that season.
On September 25, 2016, he made his first career interception. He intercepted a pass from the Miami Dolphins' quarterback. The next game, he intercepted another pass.
In Week 16, he intercepted a pass again. He finished his first year with the Browns with 57 tackles, 13 pass deflections, and three interceptions. These were all career bests for him.
The Browns were happy with Jamar's performance. They signed him to a new contract in December 2016.
Second Season (2017)
Jamar continued to be a starting cornerback for the Browns in 2017. He played in all 16 games and started 15 of them.
He had a career-high 62 tackles that season. He also had 10 pass deflections. He recorded his first half-sack against the Chicago Bears.
Moving to Other Teams
Jamar played for several other NFL teams after his time with the Browns.
Arizona Cardinals (2018)
In May 2018, Jamar was traded to the Arizona Cardinals. He played 10 games for them, starting three. He was released in November 2018.
Denver Broncos (2018)
He then signed with the Denver Broncos in December 2018. He played four games for them.
Seattle Seahawks (2019)
In May 2019, Jamar signed with the Seattle Seahawks. He was released, then re-signed, and later waived again by the Seahawks.
Atlanta Falcons (2019)
He signed with the Atlanta Falcons in December 2019. He played three games for them.
San Francisco 49ers (2020)
Jamar signed with the San Francisco 49ers in July 2020. He was later promoted to the active roster.
In Week 7, he had an amazing game against the New England Patriots. He intercepted two passes in that game. This was the first time he had intercepted a pass since 2016.
Unfortunately, Jamar suffered an injury in Week 11. He tore his ACL, which is a serious knee injury. This injury caused him to miss the rest of the season.
In October 2022, the 49ers invited Jamar for a workout.
