Jamar Andrew Taylor, born on September 29, 1990, is a former American football player. He played as a cornerback in the National Football League (NFL). Jamar played college football for the Boise State Broncos. The Miami Dolphins chose him in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft.

Early Life and High School Football
Jamar Taylor was born in San Diego, California. He went to Helix High School in La Mesa, California. There, he played high school football for the Helix Highlanders team.
College Career at Boise State
Taylor attended Boise State University. He played for the Boise State Broncos football team from 2008 to 2012. During his time in college, he made 132 tackles, caught seven interceptions, and had four sacks. In 2012, his senior year, he was named a first-team All-Mountain West Conference (MWC) player.
Jamar was also a track and field athlete at Boise State. In 2012, he ran the 100 meters in his personal best time of 10.72 seconds.
Becoming a Professional Football Player
Before the NFL draft, Jamar Taylor was invited to the NFL combine. This is where players show off their skills to professional teams. Experts thought he would be picked in the first or second round of the draft. He was ranked as one of the top cornerback players available.

Playing for the Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins picked Jamar Taylor in the second round of the 2013 NFL draft. He was the 53rd player chosen overall.
First Season (2013)
In June 2013, the Miami Dolphins signed Taylor to a four-year contract. He played in nine games during his first year. He made three tackles in total.
Second Season (2014)
In 2014, Taylor competed for a starting spot. He became the Dolphins' third cornerback. On November 13, 2014, he started his first game. He made seven tackles in a win against the Buffalo Bills. In the next game, he hurt his shoulder and missed three games. He finished the season with 31 tackles in 12 games.
Third Season (2015)
In 2015, Taylor continued to compete for a starting position. In the first game of the season, he made nine tackles. He also deflected a pass, meaning he knocked it away from an opponent. He started six games that year. He finished the season with 48 tackles and four pass deflections.
Moving to the Cleveland Browns
On April 30, 2016, Jamar Taylor was traded to the Cleveland Browns.
First Season with Browns (2016)
Taylor became a starting cornerback for the Cleveland Browns. On September 25, 2016, he made his first career interception. He caught a pass from the Miami Dolphins' quarterback. In another game, he intercepted a pass from Kirk Cousins. In Week 16, he intercepted a pass from Philip Rivers. This helped the Browns get their first win of the season. He finished the year with 57 tackles, 13 pass deflections, and three interceptions. In December 2016, the Browns signed him to a new three-year contract.
Second Season with Browns (2017)
Taylor continued as a starting cornerback for the Browns in 2017. In Week 2, he made a career-high nine tackles. On December 24, 2017, he recorded his first career half-sack. He played in all 16 games that season. He had a career-high 62 tackles and 10 pass deflections.
Other Teams
Arizona Cardinals (2018)
On May 18, 2018, Taylor was traded to the Arizona Cardinals. He played in 10 games for them before being released in November 2018.
Denver Broncos (2018)
On December 4, 2018, Taylor signed with the Denver Broncos.
Seattle Seahawks (2019)
Taylor signed with the Seattle Seahawks on May 9, 2019. He was released and then re-signed later that year. He was waived by the Seahawks in November 2019.
Atlanta Falcons (2019)
On December 10, 2019, Taylor signed with the Atlanta Falcons.
San Francisco 49ers (2020)
Taylor signed with the San Francisco 49ers on July 6, 2020. He was later added to their main roster. In Week 7, he intercepted two passes in a game against the New England Patriots. This was his first interception since 2016. In November 2020, Taylor suffered a torn ACL, which is a serious knee injury. This injury ended his season. He was placed on injured reserve in December 2020.
In October 2022, the San Francisco 49ers had Taylor come in for a workout.
