James Goldstone (born June 8, 1931 – died November 5, 1999) was a talented American director. He directed many movies and TV shows for over 30 years. You might know some of his famous works!

Directing Exciting TV Shows and Movies

James Goldstone was known for making TV shows super exciting. He created "cliffhangers" that kept viewers hooked! He directed early episodes of famous shows like Star Trek (the episode "Where No Man Has Gone Before" in 1966) and Ironside.

Later in his career, he helped create a faster style of storytelling. This meant keeping the audience's attention with quick scenes. He directed TV movies about famous people like Rita Hayworth and Calamity Jane. He also directed a TV movie about the Kent State shootings, which won him an Emmy award. An Emmy is a special award for excellence in television.

Goldstone also directed several feature films. One big suspense movie he directed was Rollercoaster in 1977.

Working with Famous Actors

During his time in Hollywood, James Goldstone worked with many well-known actors. These included Paul Newman, Robert De Niro, George Segal, and Sidney Poitier. He also worked with the famous composer and musician, Lalo Schifrin.
