Jan's Unique Name
Jan's last name, Vennegoor of Hesselink, is very unusual. A newspaper called The Guardian looked into it in 2004. They found out that in the 1600s, two farming families, the Vennegoors and the Hesselinks, got married.
Both families were important, so they decided to keep both names. The word 'of' in his name means 'or' in Dutch. So, it's like saying "Vennegoor or Hesselink."
