His Unique Name
Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink has a very interesting and unusual name. In 2004, a British newspaper called The Guardian looked into it. They found out that in the 17th century, two farming families from Enschede got married. These families were named Vennegoor and Hesselink.
Because both family names were important, they decided to keep both. The word 'of' in his name actually means 'or' in Dutch. So, his name basically means "Vennegoor or Hesselink."
