Jane Colburn Levy (born December 29, 1989) is an American actress. She is known for her roles in TV shows and movies. Jane started her acting journey after studying at the Stella Adler Studio of Acting.
She first appeared on TV in the show Shameless in 2011. After that, she got a main role in the ABC comedy show Suburgatory, which she starred in from 2011 to 2014. Jane Levy also became famous for her roles in horror movies like Evil Dead (2013) and Don't Breathe (2016).
More recently, she has been in TV series such as There's... Johnny! (2017), Castle Rock (2018), and the Netflix show What/If (2019). From 2020 to 2021, Jane played the main character in the musical comedy-drama Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist. For this role, she was nominated for a Golden Globe Award.

Early Life
Jane Colburn Levy was born in Los Angeles, California. Her mother, Mary Tilbury, is an artist and florist, and her father, Lester Levy, works as a mediator. When Jane was a baby, her family moved from Los Angeles to San Anselmo in northern California, where she grew up.
Jane's father is Jewish, and her mother has English, Scottish, and Irish family roots. She went to Sir Francis Drake High School. While there, she was part of the hip hop dancing team and was the captain of the soccer team. She had been playing soccer since she was five years old.
After high school, Jane attended Goucher College in Baltimore, Maryland, for one year. She played on the college's Division III women's soccer team. Later, she transferred to the Stella Adler Studio of Acting in New York City, where she finished her acting training.
Acting Career
Early TV Roles and First Movies (2010-2015)
After two years in New York City, Jane Levy moved to Los Angeles. Her first TV role was playing Mandy Milkovich in the first season of the show Shameless in early 2011.
In March 2011, she got her first main role in a TV show called Suburgatory. She starred alongside Jeremy Sisto and Cheryl Hines. Because of this new role, another actress, Emma Greenwell, took over Jane's part in Shameless. Suburgatory aired for three seasons and ended in May 2014.
In 2011, TV Guide and TheInsider.com named Jane as one of the new breakout stars. AOL also included her on their list of the top eleven funniest women. Forbes magazine listed her as one of the "30 under 30" bright stars who are "reinventing the world." Forbes noted that Suburgatory was a big hit and that Jane would be in two upcoming movies, calling her "one to watch."
Jane appeared in two movies in 2012: Fun Size, directed by Gossip Girl creator Josh Schwartz, and Nobody Walks, directed by Ry Russo-Young. In 2013, she starred as Mia in the horror movie Evil Dead, which was a remake of an older horror film. The next year, she acted in two independent films, About Alex and Bang Bang Baby. In 2015, Jane also appeared in Frank and Cindy with Rene Russo and Oliver Platt.
Horror Films and More TV Shows (2016-Present)
In 2016, Jane Levy worked again with Fede Álvarez, the director of Evil Dead. She starred in his horror movie Don't Breathe. This film is about three friends who break into the house of a wealthy blind man. Don't Breathe became very popular unexpectedly, received great reviews, and earned over $156 million. In the same year, she starred with Lucas Till in Monster Trucks, a movie that mixed live-action and computer animation.
In 2017, Jane played Dez in I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore and Elizabeth in an episode of the Showtime series Twin Peaks. In November 2017, she was the female lead, Joy Greenfield, in Hulu's There's... Johnny! That year, Jane also co-starred with Glenn Close in a TV show pilot called Sea Oak.
In 2018, Jane appeared in the zombie comedy Office Uprising. She also starred as Jackie Torrance in Hulu's popular show Castle Rock, which was inspired by Stephen King's stories. Jane then starred in the Netflix thriller show What/If alongside Renée Zellweger. She also appeared in James Franco's romantic drama The Pretenders. From 2020 to 2021, she played the main character, Zoey Clarke, in Zoey's Extraordinary Playlist on NBC, which ran for two seasons.
Personal Life
On March 3, 2011, Jane Levy married actor Jaime Freitas. They separated on October 31, 2011, and Jane filed for divorce in April 2013.
Jane is currently in a relationship with actor Thomas McDonell. In June 2024, the couple shared that they are expecting their first child.
