Janno Ronaldo Ilagan Gibbs (born September 16, 1969) is a famous Filipino singer, songwriter, comedian, and actor. He is often called "Mokong" or the "Philippine's King of Soul." Janno Gibbs has been a regular host on many popular TV shows like SOP Rules, Eat Bulaga!, and Party Pilipinas.

Janno's Early Career

Janno Gibbs started his career in 1986. He was part of a teen variety show called That's Entertainment on GMA Network. After that, he began to appear in small movie roles. In 1990, he also co-hosted a TV show called "Small Brothers."

TV Shows and Acting Roles

Janno Gibbs is well-known for his roles in 1990s sitcoms. These include Ober Da Bakod and Beh Bote Nga, where he often worked with Anjo Yllana. In 2001, Janno became a co-host for Eat Bulaga!, one of the longest-running noontime shows in the Philippines. He stayed with the show until 2007.

He also hosted the Filipino version of Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?, called Kakasa Ka Ba Sa Grade 5?, from 2007 to 2009. Janno Gibbs has worked with different TV networks. After being with GMA Network for 30 years, he moved to TV5. Later, he appeared on shows on ABS-CBN and then Net 25.

Janno Gibbs has starred in many movies, from comedies to action films. His first film was Kalabog en Bosyo Strike Again in 1986. He also starred in the drama movie Payaso in the same year.

He became famous for comedy films like Puto (1987) and Ober Da Bakod: Da Movie (1994). He also played the superhero Pedro Penduko in Ang Pagbabalik ni Pedro Penduko (1994) and its sequel Pedro Penduko: Episode II – The Return of the Comeback (2000).

More recently, he starred in the comedy film Hello Universe (2023). In 2024, he directed and starred in the action-comedy film Itutumba Ka ng Tatay Ko.

Janno Gibbs is also a very successful singer. He released his first hit single, "Miss," in 1988. His second album, Ipagpatawad, became a huge success, earning Gold and Platinum Awards. The song "Ipagpatawad" even won an Awit Award for Best Revival in 1991.

Janno Gibbs has received several awards for his talent.

  • In 2000, he won the Best Performance by a Duet at the Awit Awards for his song "Ikaw Lamang" with Jaya.
