History of Jansen Village
Jansen was officially planned and marked out in 1886. This happened when the Chicago, Rock Island, and Pacific Railroad extended its train tracks to this area. The village was named after Peter Jansen. He was an important local rancher and politician in the community.

What the 2010 Census Showed
In 2010, the census counted 118 people living in Jansen. These people lived in 58 households, and 31 of these were families. The village had about 513 people per square mile.
Most of the people in Jansen were White, making up 99.2% of the population. A small number, 0.8%, were from two or more racial backgrounds.
Of the 58 households, about 19% had children under 18 living there. Nearly half, 48.3%, were married couples living together. About 5.2% had a female head of the house with no husband present. Almost half, 46.6%, were not families.
