Jared Francis Harris (born on August 24, 1961) is a talented British actor. He is known for playing many different characters in popular TV shows and movies.
Some of his most famous roles include Lane Pryce in the TV show Mad Men, King George VI in The Crown, and Valery Legasov in the miniseries Chernobyl. For his role in Chernobyl, he won a special award called the BAFTA TV Award for Best Actor.

Early Life and Education

Jared Harris was born in Hammersmith, London, England, on August 24, 1961. He is the second of three sons. His father was the famous Irish actor Richard Harris. His mother was the Welsh actress Elizabeth Rees-Williams.
Jared has two brothers who are also involved in acting. His older brother, Damian Harris, is a director. His younger brother, Jamie Harris, is also an actor. His grandfather on his mother's side was a politician named David Rees-Williams, 1st Baron Ogmore.
Jared and his brothers went to a boarding school called Ladycross School in Seaford. He remembers that the school was very strict, with cold showers every morning! He also said that students were called by their last name or a number. Since there were three Harris brothers, they were called "Harris Ma" (major) for Damian, "Harris Mi" (minor) for Jared, and "Harris Minimus" for Jamie.
After Ladycross, he attended Downside School, another boarding school. He then moved to the U.S. to study at Duke University, where he earned a degree in drama in 1984. He later returned to England to train as an actor at the Central School of Speech and Drama, finishing in 1989.

In 2009, Jared met Allegra Riggio, who is a lighting designer and TV host. They got married on November 9, 2013. Jared Harris currently lives in Los Angeles.
