College Football Career
Jason Peters was a star in both football and basketball at Queen City High School in Texas. After high school, he went to the University of Arkansas. There, he played for the Arkansas Razorbacks football team.
He first played as a defensive tackle in his freshman year. Then, he moved to the tight end position. In his junior year, he caught 21 passes for 218 yards. He also scored four touchdowns. This earned him a spot on the second-team All-Southeastern Conference.
Becoming a Professional Player
Before the 2004 NFL draft, Jason Peters was a very athletic tight end. He weighed over 320 pounds. He was known for blocking more than catching passes. So, he spent a lot of time practicing as an offensive tackle. This helped him get ready for the NFL.
Experts thought he might be picked in the fourth round of the draft. However, he was not chosen by any team. This means he became an undrafted free agent.

The Buffalo Bills signed Jason Peters in April 2004. He first joined their practice squad. Later, on November 12, 2004, he was added to the main team. Peters became known for his strong blocking on special teams. He also started learning to play offensive tackle.
In 2006, Peters became the starting right tackle for the Bills. He played so well that the Bills gave him a new 5-year contract. In 2007, he moved to left tackle. This helped the team protect their quarterback better.
After the 2006 season, some sports writers thought he was good enough for the All-Pro team. Peters only allowed two sacks that season. He was also not called for any holding penalties.
In 2007, Peters was chosen to start at left tackle in the Pro Bowl. This is a special game for the best players in the league. He was the first Bills offensive lineman to make the Pro Bowl since 2003.
For the 2008 season, Peters was again chosen as a Pro Bowl starter. He was also named a Second-team All-Pro.
Time with the Philadelphia Eagles
On April 17, 2009, the Bills traded Jason Peters to the Philadelphia Eagles. The Eagles gave up some draft picks to get him. The Eagles then signed Peters to a big six-year contract. Their coach, Andy Reid, said Jason Peters was the best left tackle in football.
Peters was chosen for the 2010 Pro Bowl and 2011 Pro Bowl. He was also a second-team All-Pro in 2010.
In 2012, Peters had a serious injury to his Achilles tendon. He hurt it twice during offseason workouts. This meant he missed the entire 2012 season.

Even though he was injured, the Eagles went on to win Super Bowl LII. They beat the New England Patriots 41–33. This gave Peters his first Super Bowl ring.
Peters signed one-year contracts with the Eagles for the 2019 and 2020 seasons. In 2020, he moved back to left tackle after another player got injured. He was placed on injured reserve twice that season due to a foot injury.
