Jason Shivers (born November 4, 1982) is an American football coach and former player. He recently worked as an assistant head coach and defensive coordinator for the Edmonton Elks. This team plays in the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Shivers used to play professional football as a defensive back. He played in the CFL, the National Football League (NFL), and NFL Europe. The St. Louis Rams first chose him in the 2004 NFL draft. He also played for the Chicago Bears, Hamburg Sea Devils, New York Giants, Toronto Argonauts, and Hamilton Tiger-Cats.

Early Life and High School Sports
Jason Shivers graduated from South Mountain High School in Phoenix in 2001. He was a top player in football. He earned "First-team Super All-State" honors as a defensive player. He was also named All-state, All-league, and All-region. He played both wide receiver and free safety.
In his senior year, Shivers made 110 tackles and had four interceptions. As a junior, he caught 15 passes for 600 yards and 10 touchdowns. On defense, he had 70 tackles and caused three fumbles.
Shivers was also a talented track athlete. He earned four letters in track. In 2001, he won state titles in the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes. He was also part of a state champion 400-meter relay team.
College Football Career
Jason Shivers played college football at Arizona State University. He was a key player for the team. He led the team in tackles for his last three seasons.
In 2003, he had 104 tackles and three interceptions. As a sophomore in 2001, he made 121 tackles. In his freshman year in 2000, Shivers recorded 89 tackles.

On March 18, 2024, Shivers was hired by the Edmonton Elks. He became the team's assistant head coach, defensive coordinator, and linebackers coach. This move reunited him with Chris Jones. However, Jones was fired during the 2024 season, and Shivers was not kept for 2025.
Personal Life
Jason Shivers has five children. His children are Ta'Kia (born in 2000), Jason (born in 2005), Jaeda (born in 2007), Ameera (born in 2013), and Edward (born in 2016).
