Jason Vega (born May 30, 1987) is a former professional football player. He was a defensive end, which means he played on defense to stop the other team. Jason played most of his career in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was well-known for playing with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He also played for the Toronto Argonauts and Edmonton Eskimos in the CFL. For a short time, he was part of the NFL with the New England Patriots and the Dallas Cowboys.

College Days

Playing for the Blue Bombers (First Time)
Jason started his professional career with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the CFL. In his first year, 2011, he was named the defensive player of the week once. He finished that season with 26 tackles and 7 sacks. A sack is when a defensive player tackles the opposing team's quarterback behind the line of scrimmage. The next year, 2012, he made 40 tackles and 5 sacks.
Time in the NFL
New England Patriots
On January 26, 2013, Jason signed with the New England Patriots in the NFL. However, he was released from the team on August 13, 2013.
Dallas Cowboys
Soon after, on August 21, 2013, Jason joined the Dallas Cowboys. He played in 2 games for the Cowboys during the 2013 NFL season. In those games, he made 1 tackle.
Back with the Blue Bombers (Second Time)
After playing one season in the NFL, Jason returned to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He signed a new contract with them on December 23, 2013. In the 2014 CFL season, Jason recorded 16 tackles and 5 sacks. On April 28, 2015, the Blue Bombers released him. This was reportedly to help the team manage its player salary budget.
Toronto Argonauts
On June 22, 2015, Jason signed with the Toronto Argonauts, another team in the CFL. After that season, he was not re-signed and became a free agent. This means he was free to sign with any team.
Edmonton Eskimos
Jason then signed with the Edmonton Eskimos on August 16, 2016. He played in 4 games during the 2016 season. In those games, he had 11 tackles and one sack. After the season ended, the Eskimos released him.
Final Stint with the Blue Bombers (Third Time)
On February 8, 2017, Jason Vega signed a special one-day contract with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. After signing, he officially announced his retirement from professional football.
