Jason Vega, born on May 30, 1987, is a former professional football player. He played as a defensive end in both Canadian football and American football. Most of his career was spent in the Canadian Football League (CFL) with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He also played for the Toronto Argonauts and Edmonton Eskimos in the CFL. In the National Football League (NFL), he was part of the New England Patriots and played for the Dallas Cowboys.

Jason Vega's Professional Career
First Time with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Jason Vega began his professional journey with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers in the Canadian Football League. In his first season, the 2011 Winnipeg Blue Bombers season, he was named defensive player of the week in October. He finished his rookie year with 26 tackles and 7 sacks. The next season, he continued to play well, making 40 tackles and 5 sacks.
Time with the New England Patriots
On January 26, 2013, Vega signed with the New England Patriots in the NFL. However, he was released by the team on August 13, 2013.
Playing for the Dallas Cowboys
Soon after, on August 21, 2013, Jason Vega joined the Dallas Cowboys. He played in two games for the Cowboys during the 2013 NFL season. In those games, he recorded one tackle.
Second Time with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers
After playing one season in the NFL, Vega returned to the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. He signed a new contract with them on December 23, 2013. During the 2014 season, Vega made 16 tackles and 5 sacks. He was released by the Blue Bombers on April 28, 2015. This was reportedly to help the team manage its player salaries.
Joining the Toronto Argonauts
On June 22, 2015, Vega signed with the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL. He played for them during the season. After the season ended, he was not re-signed and became a free agent. This means he was free to sign with any other team.
With the Edmonton Eskimos
Vega signed with the Edmonton Eskimos on August 16, 2016. He played in only four games during the 2016 season. In those games, he contributed 11 tackles and one sack. After the season, the Eskimos released him.
Third and Final Time with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers
On February 8, 2017, Jason Vega signed a special one-day contract with the Blue Bombers. After signing this contract, he officially announced his retirement from professional football.
