Jean Beauvoir is an American musician. He is a singer, bassist, and guitarist. He also plays many other instruments. Jean is also a songwriter, music producer, and business leader. He became well-known in the early 1980s. This was when he played with the punk band the Plasmatics. After that, he worked with many famous artists. These include Little Steven, Kiss, and the Ramones. He also had a successful solo career.

Jean Beauvoir's Early Life and Music Career
Jean Beauvoir was born in Chicago, Illinois. His parents were from Haiti. He started playing drums when he was a child. As a teenager, he switched to playing the bass guitar.
When he was just 14, Jean became the music director for the singer Gary U.S. Bonds. After this, he sang in a doo wop group called the Flamingos. He gained a lot of experience touring the United States. He performed at many concerts, including those organized by Dick Clark.
At 15, his father asked him to leave home. This was because Jean wanted to make music his full-time job. He lived with band members for a while. Then he lived on his own.
Joining The Plasmatics
Jean moved to New York City. This was during the time when punk rock music was becoming very popular. He saw an advertisement in a newspaper. It was for a bassist. This led him to join the Plasmatics. He played on three of their albums. While with the Plasmatics, Jean was famous for his bright blond mohawk. He kept this hairstyle for a long time.
He left the group after their album Beyond the Valley of 1984. Then he joined Steve Van Zandt's band. This band was called Little Steven & the Disciples of Soul. He played on two of their albums.
Solo Success and Working with Famous Bands
In 1985, Jean Beauvoir worked with Paul Stanley from the band Kiss. They wrote several songs together. These songs were for Kiss's album, Asylum. Jean even played bass and sang backup vocals on some songs. He filled in for Gene Simmons on "Who Wants to Be Lonely" and "Uh! All Night."
After working with Kiss, Jean started his own solo music career. His first solo album was Drums Along the Mohawk. It was released in the U.K. in 1986. That same year, a song from the album, "Feel the Heat," was chosen for the movie Cobra. This movie starred Sylvester Stallone. The song "Feel the Heat" became a big hit. It reached the Top 10 in Europe and Australia. It also reached No. 73 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart in the U.S. Because of the song's success, Drums Along the Mohawk was released in the U.S. It reached No. 93 on the Billboard 200 album chart.

He continues to produce music and write songs. He also leads his own band, Crown of Thorns. In 2015, he released an album called "American Trash" with Micki Free. They used the project name Beauvoir/Free.
Jean Beauvoir has performed at many music festivals. These include Rockingham 2016, Bang Your Head Festival 2016, Graspop Festival 2016, Azkena Rock Festival 2016, and Ramblin Man Fair 2016.
