The Jefferson Davis Presidential Library and Museum is a special place in Biloxi, Mississippi, United States. It's dedicated to Jefferson Davis, who was the President of the Confederate States of America from 1861 to 1865 during the American Civil War. This library and museum helps to preserve important papers, records, and items from his life.
The building was designed by Larry Albert. It is located within the historic Beauvoir site, which was once Jefferson Davis's last home.

Exploring the Library and Museum
This library and museum has a big job: to keep safe and share all the official papers, records, and historical items connected to Jefferson Davis. Even though it's called a "Presidential Library," it's not run by the National Archives and Records Administration. That's because Jefferson Davis was never a president of the United States.
However, the state of Mississippi does support the library. You can even see a plaque at the entrance that explains this. The Mississippi Division of the Sons of Confederate Veterans helps manage the site.
What You'll Discover Inside
When you visit, you can see a permanent exhibit that tells the story of Davis's life. There are also temporary exhibits that change often, so there's always something new to learn.
Rebuilding After a Storm
In 2005, a very strong storm called Hurricane Katrina hit the area. The library suffered a lot of damage from the wind and water. Many parts of the site, like the library pavilion, a cottage, and a museum, were completely destroyed.
After the hurricane, all the important items and artifacts were carefully photographed, listed, and stored safely. This was done while the Beauvoir Historic Site was being repaired.
In 2007, a plan was approved to rebuild the library and museum. The original building was too damaged to fix. So, a brand new library was built! It was officially opened again to the public on June 3, 2013. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) helped pay for the repairs and the new building.
Outside the museum, you can see a statue of Jefferson Davis. It was created by a sculptor named William Beckwith.
