Jefferson Heights is a small community in Greene County, New York, United States. It is known as a hamlet and a census-designated place (CDP). A CDP is a special area that looks like a town but doesn't have its own local government.
In 2020, about 1,122 people lived in Jefferson Heights. This community is part of the larger town of Catskill. It is located northwest of the village of Catskill. A building that used to be a hospital in the community is now a place for medical offices.

Jefferson Heights is found in the southeastern part of Greene County. It sits in the northeastern area of the town of Catskill. The community is near the village of Catskill to its southeast. To the northwest, it borders another small community called Leeds.
Major Roads and Travel
New York State Route 23 is a main road that goes through the northern part of Jefferson Heights. This highway has four lanes. It leads east to the Rip Van Winkle Bridge, which crosses the Hudson River. If you go northwest on Route 23, you will reach Cairo, about 8 miles away.
Interstate 87, also known as the New York State Thruway, runs along the northwest edge of Jefferson Heights. Exit 21 of the Thruway, which connects to Cairo and Catskill, is located in the northern part of the community. From here, Albany, the state capital, is about 32 miles north. New York City is much further south, about 121 miles away.

Jefferson Heights covers about 1.5 square miles (3.9 square kilometers). A small part of this area, about 1.4%, is water. The Catskill Creek, a stream that flows into the Hudson River, forms the southern and western borders of Jefferson Heights. Another smaller stream, Hans Vosen Kill, which flows into Catskill Creek, forms the eastern border.

According to the census from 2000, there were 1,104 people living in Jefferson Heights. These people lived in 382 households, and 241 of these were families. The community had about 752 people per square mile.
Many different people make up the community. Most residents were White (95.74%), with smaller numbers of African American (2.26%) and Asian (1.27%) residents. About 1% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.
