Jeffrey Michael Tambor (born July 8, 1944) is an American actor. He is known for his many roles in television shows and movies. He played characters like Jeffrey Brookes in The Ropers, Hank Kingsley in The Larry Sanders Show, and both George Bluth Sr. and Oscar Bluth in Arrested Development.
Tambor also played Maura Pfefferman in the TV series Transparent. For this role, he won two Primetime Emmy Awards and a Golden Globe Award. He has also appeared in films like How the Grinch Stole Christmas and Hellboy. He has done voice acting for animated movies such as The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie and Tangled.

Early life
Jeffrey Tambor was born on July 8, 1944. His birthplace was San Francisco, California. His mother, Eileen, was a homemaker, and his father, Bernard, worked with flooring.
He grew up in a Jewish family. Jeffrey went to Abraham Lincoln High School. After that, he studied acting at San Francisco State University. He later earned a master's degree from Wayne State University.
Career

Jeffrey Tambor started his acting career in theater. He performed in plays in Milwaukee. In 1976, he made his first appearance on Broadway in the comedy Sly Fox.
He began appearing on television in the late 1970s. He had guest roles in popular shows like Taxi, Kojak, and M*A*S*H. In 1979, he got a main role in the TV show The Ropers. During the 1980s, he also had a repeating role on Hill Street Blues.
From 1992 to 1998, Tambor played Hank Kingsley on The Larry Sanders Show. Hank was the funny sidekick to the talk show host. Jeffrey Tambor was nominated for four Emmy Awards for this role.
In 2003, Tambor began starring in the comedy show Arrested Development. He played two characters: George Bluth Sr. and his twin brother Oscar Bluth. The show was very popular and later returned for more seasons on Netflix. Tambor received two more Emmy nominations for his work on Arrested Development.
Jeffrey Tambor also lent his voice to many animated projects. He was the voice of King Neptune in The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie (2004). He also voiced characters in Monsters vs. Aliens (2009), Tangled (2010), and Trolls (2016).
In 2014, Tambor starred in the Amazon series Transparent. He played Maura Pfefferman, a parent who is transgender. For this role, Tambor received many awards. He won the Golden Globe Award in 2015. He also won the Primetime Emmy Award in 2015 and 2016. He was the first actor to win an Emmy for playing a transgender character.
In 2017, he played Georgy Malenkov in the movie The Death of Stalin. In May 2017, Tambor released a book about his life called Are You Anybody? A Memoir.
Personal life
Jeffrey Tambor is married to Kasia Ostlun. They have four children together: Gabriel Kasper, Eve Julia, and twin sons Hugo Bernard and Eli Nicholas. Tambor also has adult daughters from earlier relationships.
