Jelani Marwan McCoy (born December 6, 1977) is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He was a tall player, standing 6 feet 10 inches. Jelani played as a power forward or center.
He played in the NBA from 1998 to 2007. Some of the teams he played for include the Seattle SuperSonics, Los Angeles Lakers, and Denver Nuggets. Before becoming a pro, he went to UCLA for college. He also attended St. Augustine High School in San Diego, California.

College Basketball Journey
Jelani McCoy played college basketball for the UCLA Bruins. He was a very good shot blocker. By 1998, he had become UCLA's all-time leader in blocked shots. This means he blocked more shots than any other player in the school's history up to that point.
Professional Basketball Career
Jelani McCoy had a professional basketball career that lasted many years. He played for several teams both in the NBA and in other leagues around the world.
Playing in the NBA
McCoy played in the NBA for almost a decade. During his time in the NBA, he averaged about 4.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per game.
He was part of the Los Angeles Lakers team that won the 2002 NBA Finals. This was a big achievement, making him an NBA champion. Even though he was injured for most of that season, he was still a part of the championship team.
In 2007, McCoy played for the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Summer League. He played well, averaging 9 points and 9 rebounds in each game. Later that year, the Nuggets signed him to their main team. This happened because some of their other players were injured. He played a few games for them before being waived in December 2007.
Playing Outside the NBA
Besides the NBA, Jelani McCoy also played for many teams internationally. He played in different countries like Italy, Spain, and China.
For example, in 2006, he signed with an Italian team called Viola Reggio Calabria. In 2007, he played for a Spanish team, Menorca Bàsquet. He also played for teams in the D-League, which is now called the G-League. One of these teams was the Los Angeles D-Fenders.
His career showed that he was a versatile player who could play in different leagues around the world.
