Jerk De Soleil is the 12th episode from the first season of the popular animated TV show Phineas and Ferb. In this episode, stepbrothers Phineas and Ferb decide to create their very own circus right in their backyard. This amazing show quickly grabs the attention of everyone in the neighborhood. Meanwhile, their older sister, Candace, tries her best to tell their mom about the boys' big project. However, Candace faces a challenge: she's having an allergic reaction to some wild parsnips!
"Jerk De Soleil" was written by Bobby Gaylor and Martin Olson. The episode was directed by Dan Povenmire, who also helped create the series. Interestingly, Dan Povenmire even provided the voice for Candace during her allergic reaction scenes. This was because the crew couldn't make her regular voice actress, Ashley Tisdale, sound deep enough. The episode first aired on February 10, 2008. It was part of a special TV event called "Phineas and Ferb-urary." Most people who watched it really enjoyed the episode.

The Backyard Circus Adventure
Building Their Own Show
Phineas, his stepbrother Ferb, and their friends had plans. They wanted to go to a local circus called "Cirque de Lune." But their plans were suddenly canceled. The circus ringleader had an allergy, so the show couldn't happen.
Phineas and Ferb weren't discouraged at all! They decided to build their own circus. They would put it right in their backyard. Their friends, including Isabella, Baljeet, Buford, and Django, would be the performers. They quickly set up a big circus tent. Everyone got ready with their costumes.
Candace's Allergy Trouble
Candace soon found out about the boys' backyard circus. She immediately decided to tell their mom, Linda. But then, Jeremy, a boy she likes, stopped by. He gave her a basket of plants. Unfortunately, the basket had some wild parsnips. These parsnips caused Candace to have an allergic reaction.
To hide her red skin and deep, scratchy voice, Candace put on a sweatsuit and a paper bag over her head. She then went to the mall to find her mom. She wanted to tell Linda about the boys' circus. While at the mall, Candace sang a song called "E.V.I.L. B.O.Y.S." Her mom, Vivian Garcia-Shapiro, and Jeremy's mom were all there.
Circus Chaos and Doofenshmirtz
Frustrated, Candace returned to the circus. Jeremy had saved a spot for her. But the boys mistook her for Buford! They accidentally included her in Buford's act. Candace was sent flying high into the air. She went right through the roof of the circus tent.
At that exact moment, Dr. Doofenshmirtz and Perry the Platypus were flying overhead. Doofenshmirtz's machine suddenly turned on. It gave everyone in the circus audience very high-pitched voices. This caused the tent to rip apart. The speed of Doofenshmirtz's flying machine then carried the tent even higher. It destroyed his machine and sent Doofenshmirtz flying away, still with a high voice. Jeremy later gave Candace a CD.
How the Episode Was Made

"Jerk De Soleil" was written by Bobby Gaylor and Martin Olson. The drawings for the episode, called storyboards, were created by J. G. Quintel (who later made the show Regular Show) and Kim Roberson. The episode was directed by Dan Povenmire, one of the creators of Phineas and Ferb.
There was a funny challenge during production. When Candace had her allergic reaction, her voice was supposed to be very deep. The crew tried to make Ashley Tisdale's voice (who usually plays Candace) sound deep enough. But they couldn't! So, Dan Povenmire himself stepped in and voiced Candace for those scenes.
"Jerk De Soleil" first aired in the United States on Disney Channel. This happened on February 10, 2008. It was part of a special month-long event called "Phineas and Ferb-urary." The episode was later released on a DVD collection. This DVD was called The Daze of Summer. It came out on the episode's first anniversary. The DVD included nine other episodes. The song "E.V.I.L. B.O.Y.S." from the episode was also released. It was part of the official Phineas and Ferb soundtrack in 2009.
