Jermaine Bucknor, born on November 1, 1983, is a Canadian professional basketball coach. He used to be a basketball player. Today, he works as an assistant coach for the Charlotte Hornets. This team is part of the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Playing Career
Jermaine Bucknor is 6 feet 7 inches tall. He grew up in Edmonton, Canada. He played college basketball at the University of Richmond.
After college, he played for many professional teams. He played for teams in France, like Limoges CSP Elite and Aix-Maurienne Savoie Basket. He also played for a Polish team called Polpak Świecie.
Starting in 2012, he played for TBB Trier in Germany. This team is in the German Basketball Bundesliga. He signed a new contract with them in 2014. Later, he played in Belgium and Argentina. He then returned to Trier to play for the Gladiators Trier.
Jermaine had to stop playing basketball in June 2021. This was because of ongoing knee pain and a hip injury. After his playing career ended, he decided to become a coach.
Coaching Career
After retiring as a player, Jermaine Bucknor started coaching. He became an assistant coach for the Gladiators Trier. This team plays in the German ProA league.
On July 3, 2024, Jermaine Bucknor was hired by the Charlotte Hornets. He now works as an assistant coach for this NBA team.
International Play
Jermaine Bucknor played for the Canadian National Basketball Team for four years. He played in 25 games for his country. His last time playing for Canada was at the 2007 Pan American Games. In those games, he scored about 7.5 points and grabbed 2.8 rebounds per game.
