Jermaine Bucknor was born on November 1, 1983. He is a Canadian basketball coach and a former player. Currently, he works as an assistant coach for the Charlotte Hornets team in the National Basketball Association (NBA).
Playing Career
Jermaine Bucknor is quite tall, standing at 6 feet 7 inches. He grew up in Edmonton, Canada. He played college basketball for the University of Richmond team.
After college, he played for many professional basketball teams around the world. He played in France for teams like Limoges CSP, ESSM Le Portel, Aix-Maurienne Savoie Basket, and Stade Clermontois Basket Auvergne. He also played for the Polpak Świecie team in Poland.
In 2012, Jermaine joined TBB Trier in Germany's top basketball league, the Basketball Bundesliga. He played there for several years. Later, he played in Belgium and Argentina. He then returned to Trier, Germany, to play for the Gladiators Trier. In June 2021, Jermaine had to stop playing basketball because of ongoing knee and hip pain. He decided to start a new career as a coach.
Coaching Career
After he stopped playing, Jermaine Bucknor began his coaching journey. He became an assistant coach for the Gladiators Trier team in Germany's ProA league.
On July 3, 2024, Jermaine Bucknor was hired as an assistant coach by the Charlotte Hornets. This means he helps the head coach train the players and plan game strategies.
International Games
Jermaine Bucknor proudly represented Canada Basketball for four years. He played in 25 games as part of the Canadian National Program. His last time playing for Canada was at the 2007 Pan American Games. In those games, he scored about 7.5 points and got 2.8 rebounds per game.
