Jerod Ward's High School Days
Jerod Ward was an amazing basketball player in high school. He was considered the best new player in the country in 1994. He won the Naismith Prep Player of the Year award while playing for Clinton High School in Clinton, Mississippi.
High School Achievements
Jerod was also a McDonald's All-American in 1994. He was named to the First Team for Parade, Slam magazine, USA Today, and Basketball Times All-American teams. During his three years on the varsity team, he scored 2,652 points and grabbed over 800 rebounds.
Senior Year Highlights
In his senior year, Jerod averaged 29.8 points and 10.3 rebounds per game. His team, the Clinton Arrows, had a great record of 26 wins and only 3 losses. He even scored 51 points and 49 points in two different games that year. In one game, he had 19 rebounds!
Junior and Sophomore Success
As a junior, Jerod averaged 29.5 points and 9.3 rebounds. He led the Clinton Arrows to win the Class 5A state championship. He averaged 33.5 points during that state tournament. In his sophomore year, he averaged 27.5 points and 9.5 rebounds. His coach was Joel Boone. In the 2009–10 season, Clinton High School honored Jerod by retiring his number 32 jersey.
College Basketball Career
In 1994, Jerod Ward joined the University of Michigan basketball team. He was part of a highly talented group of players known as the "Fab Five II." This group included Travis Conlan, Maceo Baston, Willie Mitchell, and Maurice Taylor. Even though he faced some injuries while at Michigan, Jerod still did very well. He ranked fifth in the school's history for career three-point field goals.

Early Professional Years
In the 1998–99 season, he played for the Grand Rapids Hoops in the CBA. He averaged 14.9 points and 5.9 rebounds per game that season. Because of his great performance, he was named to the CBA All-Rookie team.
Playing Around the World
Jerod also played for CB Granada in Spain and Cibona Zagreb in Croatia. He even attended the training camp for the Toronto Raptors in 2002, which is a team in the NBA. His career took him to many different countries and teams before he retired in 2011.
