High School Basketball Star
Jerod Ward was a top basketball player in high school. In 1994, he was named the Naismith Prep Player of the Year. This award goes to the best high school basketball player in the country. He played for Clinton High School in Clinton, Mississippi.
Amazing High School Stats
Ward was a McDonald's All-American in 1994. He was also named a First Team All-American by Parade and Slam magazines, USA Today, and Basketball Times. In three years playing for Clinton High School, he scored 2,652 points. He also grabbed more than 800 rebounds.
As a senior, Ward averaged almost 30 points and over 10 rebounds per game. He had two games where he scored more than 49 points! In one game, he even had 19 rebounds. During his junior year, he led the Clinton Arrows to a state championship. He averaged 33.5 points per game in that tournament.

Jerod Ward's jersey number 32 was retired by Clinton High School. This happened in the 2009–10 season. Retiring a jersey is a special honor for a great player.
College Career at Michigan
