Jerome Virgil Henderson (born August 8, 1969) is an American football coach and former player. He used to be the defensive backs coach for the New York Giants in the National Football League (NFL). During his playing career, he was a cornerback for teams like the New England Patriots, Buffalo Bills, Philadelphia Eagles, and New York Jets.
Henderson played college football for the Clemson Tigers. He was chosen in the second round of the 1991 NFL draft. He even played in two Super Bowls, which are the championship games of the NFL. He played in Super Bowl XXVIII with the Buffalo Bills and Super Bowl XXXI with the New England Patriots.

New York Jets Coaching
Henderson started his coaching career with the New York Jets. He spent two years there, focusing on coaching the defensive backs. These are the players who try to stop the opposing team's passes.
Cleveland Browns Coaching
After his time with the Jets, Henderson moved to the Cleveland Browns. He worked there for three seasons. He continued to coach the defensive backs, helping them learn important strategies.
Dallas Cowboys Coaching
In 2012, Henderson joined the Dallas Cowboys. He worked with a coach he knew from the Browns, Rob Ryan. Henderson stayed with the Cowboys until the end of the 2015 season.
Atlanta Falcons Coaching
Henderson then became a coach for the Atlanta Falcons. In the 2016 season, Henderson and the Falcons had a fantastic year. They made it all the way to Super Bowl LI. This big game was played on February 5, 2017, against the New England Patriots.
Even though the Falcons played well, they lost a very close game in overtime. The final score was 34–28. Henderson worked for the Falcons for four seasons. He was their secondary coach and helped with the defensive passing game. The Falcons let him go after the 2019 season.
New York Giants Coaching
On January 21, 2020, the New York Giants hired Henderson. He became their defensive backs coach. He continued in this role under different head coaches, including Joe Judge and Brian Daboll.
In May 2022, the Giants' defensive coordinator, Wink Martindale, praised Henderson. He called him "the best secondary coach in the league." This shows how much his colleagues respected his coaching skills.
In January 2024, Henderson interviewed for a higher coaching position with the Giants. He wanted to become the defensive coordinator. While he didn't get that specific job, he did get a new title. He became the defensive backs coach and passing game coordinator. Henderson and the Giants decided to part ways on January 16, 2025.
