She became well-known for playing Tree Gelbman in the comedy horror film Happy Death Day (2017) and its sequel, Happy Death Day 2U (2019). These roles helped her become known as a "scream queen," which is an actress famous for starring in horror movies.

Rothe has also appeared in other popular films. These include the musical movies La La Land (2016) and Valley Girl (2020). She also starred in romantic dramas like Forever My Girl (2018) and All My Life (2020). On television, she was in the MTV comedy series Mary + Jane (2016) and the Amazon Prime Video science fiction show Utopia (2020).

Early life and education

Jessica Rothe was born in Denver, Colorado. Her parents are Susan and Steve Rothenberg. Her father is Jewish. Her grandmother, Colleen Rothenberg, was a theatre actress.

When she was 8 years old, Rothe started taking ballet classes. As a young person, she went to summer theater camps in Kansas City. She attended Cherry Creek High School. Later, she went to Boston University and graduated in 2009. While in college, she learned to play the violin, tap dance, and make pottery.
