Jim White's Pro Football Journey

Playing for the BC Lions

Jim White started his professional career in 1971. He signed with the BC Lions in the Canadian Football League. At first, he played as a tight end. He caught two passes for 28 yards. But he mostly played as a defensive end. The Lions let him go from the team on September 15, 1971. Later, in October 1971, the Lions brought him back. This happened because many players on the team got injured.

In a game on October 30, 1971, Jim White was ejected. This was during the Lions' final game of the season. He got into a fight with an opposing player. By the end of that year, many thought Jim White was one of the best defensive linemen in the CFL.

Time with the New England Patriots

The New England Patriots picked Jim White in the 1972 NFL Draft. He was the 73rd player chosen overall. The Patriots thought he could become a top defensive player. He officially signed with them on May 6, 1972.

White played in the first six games of the 1972 season. He became a starter in Week 7 against the New York Jets. He started as the left defensive end for six games in a row. He played in thirteen games that season. He missed only the last game. Jim White recorded one sack in 1972. The Patriots released him on September 6, 1973.

Brief Stop with the Miami Dolphins

On September 10, 1973, the Miami Dolphins signed Jim White. He signed a "futures contract." This means he would join the team later. However, he never played in a game for the Dolphins.

Years with the Houston Oilers

Jim White joined the Houston Oilers in 1974. He played for the team for two seasons. He played in twelve games in 1974. He then played in all fourteen games in 1975. With the Oilers, he made 3.5 sacks. He also recovered one fumble. The Oilers released him on September 9, 1976.

Playing for the Seattle Seahawks

On the same day, September 9, 1976, the Seattle Seahawks picked up Jim White. This was for their very first season. He played in the team's first two games. Both of these games were losses. He was released by the Seahawks on September 27, 1976.

Final Games with the Denver Broncos

On October 21, 1976, Jim White signed with the Denver Broncos. He played in seven games for them. He started in one of those games. He also recovered one fumble. He made ten tackles and blocked a field goal. Jim White was not with the Broncos for their camp in May 1977. This suggested he had been released from the team.
