Early Life and Rise to Fame
Jimmy Lin was born in Taipei, Taiwan, on October 15, 1974. He was the second of five children in his family. When he was 16, he was studying drama and photography. He was discovered during a school performance because he was very popular on campus.
At first, Jimmy wasn't sure about joining the entertainment world. But he later decided to take the offer from his manager. In 1992, when he was just 17, he became a huge star very quickly. This happened after he released his first album, Not Every Love Song Has Fond Memories. His fame spread all over Asia, and people started calling him "Little Whirlwind."
He was also known as one of the "Little Four Heavenly Kings" in Taiwan. Jimmy Lin became the youngest singer to ever hold a concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum. He was only 18 years old at the time. After that, he released many more albums and starred in several movies and TV shows. He also won many awards for his music.
In 1994, Jimmy had to pause his career to complete military service. This is a required time in the military for young men in Taiwan. Even though he knew it would affect his career, he didn't ask for special treatment. He joined the military in October 1994. He served for two years, mostly in the entertainment part of the military. After his service, he returned to acting and singing.
Jimmy Lin's Diverse Career
After his military service, it was a bit tough for Jimmy to get back into showbiz. Many new stars had appeared. But he worked very hard and even started his own company, Jimmy Creative. This company helped produce his next five albums. One of his most famous albums from this time was "Scarecrow" (1999).
