Joaquina Kalukango was a student at YoungArts in 2007, which is a program for young artists. She then went on to study at the Juilliard School, a very famous performing arts school. There, she earned a special degree called a Bachelor of Fine Arts.
Joaquina's family comes from Angola, a country in Africa. Her parents came to the United States seeking safety. Because of her background, Joaquina is very interested in playing characters that show the experiences of Black people.
