Joseph Edward Corvo (born June 20, 1977) is an American former professional ice hockey player. He played for 11 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL). He played for teams like the Los Angeles Kings and Boston Bruins. Joe was a defenseman, which means he helped protect his team's goal.

Playing Career Highlights
Starting Out in Hockey
Joe Corvo showed his talent early on. He played in the 1997 World Junior Championships. This big tournament was held in Switzerland. His team, the USA, won a silver medal. Joe was even named the best defenseman of the tournament!
After that, he played college hockey. He spent three seasons at Western Michigan University. This was from 1995 to 1998.
Becoming a Professional Player
Joe Corvo was chosen by the Los Angeles Kings in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. This is when NHL teams pick new players. He made his first appearance in the NHL during the 2002–03 season. He played for the Kings for three seasons. His best year with them was in 2005–06. He scored 14 goals and helped with 26 others.
Playing for the Ottawa Senators
In 2006, Joe joined the Ottawa Senators. He signed a four-year contract with them. On October 26, 2006, he set a new record for Senators defensemen. He scored one goal and helped with four others in a single game! This was against the Toronto Maple Leafs. That season, the Senators made it to the 2007 Stanley Cup Finals. This is the championship series of the NHL. They played against the Anaheim Ducks.
Time with the Carolina Hurricanes
In 2008, Joe was traded to the Carolina Hurricanes. A trade is when teams swap players. On March 16, 2008, Joe scored a hat trick against his old team, the Senators. A hat trick means scoring three goals in one game! He was only the third defenseman in the Hurricanes' history to do this. That season, between both teams, Joe scored 13 goals. He also helped with 35 other goals.
Joining the Washington Capitals
Joe played for the Hurricanes for almost two seasons. Then, in March 2010, he was traded again. This time, he went to the Washington Capitals. He played 18 games with the Capitals. He scored two goals and helped with four others.
Back to Carolina and Boston
Joe Corvo returned to the Carolina Hurricanes in 2010. He signed a two-year contract. He played most of two seasons there. Then, in July 2011, he was traded to the Boston Bruins. He played one season with the Bruins.
After that, Joe came back to the Hurricanes for a third time! He signed a one-year deal in 2012. He scored six goals and helped with eleven others. The Hurricanes did not make the playoffs that year.
Final Stint with Ottawa
In 2013, Joe Corvo returned to the Ottawa Senators as a free agent. He signed a one-year contract. In March 2014, he was sent to play for the Chicago Wolves. This was a team in a different league.
