College Football Journey
Playing for Michigan

In 2020, Joe competed to become Michigan's main starting quarterback. He was expected to win the spot. The season was shorter because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Joe started the first three games. However, he gradually played less as the season went on. He ended the season with 1,077 passing yards and four passing touchdowns. He also had one rushing touchdown.
Transferring to Tennessee
After the 2020 season, Joe transferred to the University of Tennessee. He was named the starting quarterback for the 2021 season. In the second game, he got injured. Another quarterback, Hendon Hooker, took his place. Joe played in six more games that season as a backup. He even threw a touchdown against the #1 ranked Georgia team.
In the 2022 season, Hendon Hooker was the main starter for Tennessee. Joe was mostly a backup again. He played well when he got the chance, often throwing for over 100 yards and scoring touchdowns. Later in the season, Hooker got a serious injury. This made Joe the starting quarterback for the rest of the year.
Joe's first start of the 2022 season was against Vanderbilt. He threw for 147 yards and a touchdown, helping Tennessee win 56–0. Tennessee then got to play in the Orange Bowl against #7 ranked Clemson. Joe played an amazing game! He threw for 251 yards and three touchdowns. Joe started the 2023 season as Tennessee's main quarterback. He had a great start, throwing two touchdowns and running for two more in a big win against Virginia. In another game, he had an 81-yard rushing touchdown. This was the longest run by a quarterback in Tennessee's history! He finished his final college season with an 8–4 record.
