Joel King Goldsmith (born November 19, 1957 – died April 29, 2012) was an American composer. He wrote music for many films, television shows, and video games.
About Joel Goldsmith
Joel Goldsmith was born in Los Angeles, California. His father, Jerry Goldsmith, was also a very famous composer. Joel was the third of four children. His mother, Sharon, was a singer. Joel's uncle, Michael Hennagin, was also a composer and a professor.
Joel became well-known for his work on the TV series Stargate SG-1. He was the main composer for this show. However, the main theme music for Stargate SG-1 was created by David Arnold. David Arnold had also composed the music for the original Stargate movie.
Joel Goldsmith also composed the main theme and music for Stargate Atlantis. He even wrote the main theme for the second season of the CBS series Martial Law.
During his career, Joel often worked with two other composers. These were his father, Jerry Goldsmith, and Neal Acree. In 2006, Joel started writing music for video games. His first video game project was Call of Duty 3. Later in his life, Joel moved to Hidden Hills, California. He built a special music studio in his backyard.
Joel Goldsmith passed away on April 29, 2012, at the age of 54. He died at his home in Hidden Hills, California. He was buried at Forest Lawn - Hollywood Hills Cemetery.
