Joseph Scott Galloway (born November 20, 1971) is a former American football player. He was a talented wide receiver in the National Football League (NFL). After his playing career, he became a sports analyst for ESPN.
Galloway was picked by the Seattle Seahawks as the eighth overall player in the 1995 NFL draft. He also played for the Dallas Cowboys, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Washington Redskins. Before joining the NFL, he played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Early Life and High School Sports
Joey Galloway grew up in Bellaire, Ohio. He played high school football at Bellaire High School. In his final year, he caught 52 passes for over 1,200 yards and scored eight touchdowns.
He was also a great basketball player, earning All-Ohio honors. Plus, he was a letterman in track, showing he was a very athletic person.
College Football Career
Galloway played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He became one of their best receivers ever. He set many records during his time there.
In his junior year, he caught 47 passes for 946 yards. He also tied a school record with 11 touchdowns. His amazing performance earned him a spot on the first-team All-Big Ten Conference team.
As a senior, he continued to play well. He had 44 catches for 769 yards and seven touchdowns. This earned him a spot on the Second-team All-Big Ten Conference. He finished his college career with 108 catches and 1,494 receiving yards. He was second in school history with 19 touchdown catches.

Seattle Seahawks Years
The Seattle Seahawks chose Galloway in the first round of the 1995 NFL draft. He was the eighth player picked overall. He quickly showed how good he was.
As a rookie, he set new team records for a first-year player. He had 67 catches and 1,067 receiving yards. He also had three games where he gained over 100 yards. Besides catching passes, he was also good at returning punts. He returned 36 punts for 360 yards and scored a touchdown.
In his second year, he led the Seahawks in catches, receiving yards, and touchdowns. He continued to have strong seasons in 1997 and 1998. He caught over 1,000 yards in both years and scored double-digit touchdowns.
In 1999, he missed part of the season because of a contract disagreement. He played in only eight games that year. Overall, he finished his time with the Seahawks with 283 catches, 4,457 yards, and 37 touchdowns.
In 2000, the Seahawks traded Galloway to the Dallas Cowboys. They received two first-round draft picks in return.
Dallas Cowboys Experience
The Dallas Cowboys were looking for a top wide receiver. They traded for Joey Galloway and signed him to a big contract. This made him one of the highest-paid receivers in the league.
His first season with the Cowboys was tough. He tore a knee ligament in the very first game. He only played in that one game, catching four passes for 62 yards and a touchdown.
He bounced back the next year, playing in all 16 games. He was second on the team in catches and yards. In 2002, he played all 16 games again, with 61 catches and 908 yards. In 2003, he led the NFL by averaging 19.8 yards per catch. He finished his time with the Cowboys with 151 catches for 2,341 yards and 12 touchdowns.
In 2004, the Cowboys traded Galloway to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers Highlights
Galloway joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 2004. He had an injury early in his first season there. He played in ten games, catching 33 passes for 416 yards and five touchdowns.
In 2005, he had his best season ever. He caught a career-high 83 passes for 1,287 yards and ten touchdowns. This was the second-most receiving yards in Buccaneers history for a single season.
He continued his great play in 2006 and 2007. He had over 1,000 receiving yards in both seasons. This made him the first player in Buccaneers history to have three straight seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards.
In 2008, he had a foot injury and missed most of the season. He was released by the Buccaneers in 2009. He finished his time with them with 248 catches for 3,912 yards and 28 touchdowns.
Later NFL Teams
After leaving the Buccaneers, Galloway signed with the New England Patriots in 2009. He played in three games before being released in October.
Later in 2009, he signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He was not re-signed by them at the end of the season.
In 2010, Galloway signed with the Washington Redskins. He played in 10 games, catching 12 passes for 173 yards. He was released by the team in November.

In 2012, Joey Galloway joined ESPN as a college football analyst. This means he helps explain college football games and news on TV.
During his time as a player, Galloway also co-owned a football team. He was part owner of the Columbus Destroyers in the Arena Football League from 2003 to 2008.
