Joffre is a small community known as a hamlet in central Alberta, Canada. It is located within Lacombe County.
You can find Joffre about 6 kilometers (4 miles) north of Highway 11. It is also around 20 kilometers (12 miles) northeast of the city of Red Deer.

Joffre's History
The community of Joffre has an interesting past. It was first known by a different name.
The area was originally called Blades. This name came from a local family who were pioneers in the area.
Later, in 1918, the community's Post Office was named Joffre. This new name honored Marshal J. J. C. Joffre. He was a very important military leader. Marshal Joffre was the Commander-in-Chief of the Allied army from 1915 to 1917.
