Joginder Sharma, born on October 23, 1983, is a former Indian cricketer. He is also a police officer in Haryana, India. He played for the Indian cricket team a few times. He was also a part of the Chennai Super Kings team in the Indian Premier League (IPL) from 2008 to 2012.
Joginder is famous for being a key player in India's win at the first-ever ICC T20 World Cup in 2007. He took the final wicket in that exciting match! He also helped Chennai Super Kings win the IPL in 2010 and 2011.

Playing Style
Joginder Sharma was known as a bowling all-rounder. This means he was good at both batting and bowling. He batted right-handed and bowled right-arm medium-fast. He even captained his state team, Haryana.
Cricket Journey
Joginder started his professional cricket career in 2002. He played for Haryana in the Ranji Trophy, which is a big cricket tournament in India. In his very first match, he scored 81 runs and took 11 wickets! This helped his team win.
He quickly became known for his strong performances. He was chosen to play for the North Zone team. He even played against the Indian national team once and took important wickets.
In 2004, Joginder got to play for the Indian national team in a One Day International (ODI) match against Bangladesh. He also played well in the Ranji Trophy, taking many wickets and scoring runs.
International Success
Joginder Sharma became a national hero during the 2007 ICC World Twenty20 in South Africa. This was a new and exciting tournament for Twenty20 cricket.
Semi-Final Heroics
In the semi-final match against Australia, India needed to defend 22 runs in the last over. Joginder bowled this crucial over. He took two wickets and helped India win by 15 runs. This was a very tense moment!
The Famous Final Over
Joginder also bowled the final over in the World Cup final against Pakistan. Pakistan needed 13 runs to win with only one wicket left. It was an incredibly exciting finish!
After a wide ball and a six, Pakistan needed just 6 runs from 3 balls. Joginder bowled a delivery outside the off stump. The Pakistani batsman, Misbah-ul-Haq, tried to hit the ball over the fielders but mistimed it. The ball went high in the air and was caught by Sreesanth. This wicket meant India won the first-ever T20 World Cup!
Because of his amazing contribution, the Haryana government gave Joginder Sharma a special reward. They gave him money and a job as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP).
Life After Cricket
Joginder Sharma joined the Haryana Police in October 2007. He continued to play cricket for a while after that. He officially retired from cricket on February 3, 2023. As of June 2020, he was working as a Deputy Superintendent of Police in Pehowa, Haryana.
