John Duren was born in Washington, D.C. on October 30, 1958. He went to Dunbar High School in his hometown. After high school, he continued his basketball journey at Georgetown University. He played for the Georgetown Hoyas from 1976 to 1980.

College Achievements

During his time at Georgetown, John Duren became a standout player. In 1980, he earned a major award: the Big East Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Year. This award goes to the best player in the Big East Conference, which is a group of colleges that play against each other in sports. He was also named to the First-team All-Big East, meaning he was one of the top players in the entire conference.

Professional Basketball Career

After a successful college career, John Duren entered the 1980 NBA draft. The NBA draft is an event where professional basketball teams choose new players from colleges or other leagues.
