John D. Kenerson (born March 18, 1938 – died December 6, 1995) was an American football player. He played as a defensive lineman, which means he was on the defense team and tried to stop the other team from scoring. John played in three different football leagues: the National Football League (NFL), the American Football League (AFL), and the Canadian Football League (CFL). His career lasted from 1960 to 1965. Before becoming a professional, he played college football at Kentucky State University.
Early Life and College Football
John Kenerson grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He went to Crane High School there. After high school, he played college football for the Kentucky State Thorobreds. This team is part of Kentucky State University.
Playing Professional Football
John Kenerson had a busy professional football career, playing for several teams in different leagues.
NFL Teams
In 1960, Kenerson started his professional career with the Los Angeles Rams in the NFL. He played in seven games for them. In 1962, he briefly joined the San Francisco 49ers, but was released soon after. Later that year, he played one game for the Pittsburgh Steelers before being released again.
AFL and CFL Teams
After his time with the Steelers, Kenerson joined the New York Titans in the AFL. He played in eight games for them in 1962.
In 1963, Kenerson moved to the Canadian Football League (CFL). He signed with the Ottawa Rough Riders after being released by the NFL's Chicago Bears. He played nine games for the Rough Riders in 1963 and 13 games in 1964.
In 1965, Kenerson played for two more CFL teams. He signed with the Montreal Alouettes in August and played four games for them. Later that month, he joined the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and played one game before the season ended.
