Johnathan James Aitken (born May 24, 1978) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played as a defenceman, which is a player who helps protect his team's goal. Aitken played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for teams like the Boston Bruins and the Chicago Blackhawks.

Johnathan Aitken started his professional ice hockey career in 1998. He was a strong defenceman known for his physical play.

Starting in the NHL

Aitken was chosen by the Boston Bruins as the 8th overall pick in the 1996 NHL Entry Draft. Being drafted means a team picks a young player to join their organization. He played a few games for the Bruins over two years.

Playing Overseas

After his time with the Bruins, Johnathan decided to play hockey in other countries. For the 2000–01 season, he went to the Czech Republic to play for HC Sparta Praha in the Czech Extraliga, which is a top league there.

Return to North America
