John Kirkland Reid (born August 21, 1973) is a Scottish-Canadian country music singer. He's known for his soulful voice and popular songs. Johnny moved to Canada from Scotland when he was 16 years old, in July 1989. His dad, who was a diesel mechanic, wanted Johnny and his brother to have more opportunities than they might have found in Scotland.
Johnny finished high school in Brampton, Ontario, in 1992. Later, he went to Bishop's University in Lennoxville, Quebec. While there, he played football as a kicker for the university team and met his wife. After university, Johnny moved to Nashville, Tennessee, in the United States, to pursue his dream of making country music. He and his family still live there today.
Johnny Reid has won many awards for his music, including being nominated for a Juno Award in 2008 for his album Kicking Stones. He was also named Male Artist of the Year at the CCMA Awards in both 2008 and 2009. He even performed for Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip during Canada Day celebrations in 2010!
