He also faced difficulties with local leaders and populations.
Challenges and Later Life
After his time as governor, Jorge de Menezes was arrested. He was then sent to Portuguese India. Later, he returned to Portugal. However, he was then sent away to the colony of Brazil. He died in Brazil in 1537 during a conflict with local people.
