Josef Marha (born 2 June 1976) is a former professional ice hockey player from the Czech Republic. He played as a centre and was known for his skill on the ice. Josef played for many teams during his long career, including some famous ones in the NHL.
Josef Marha's Hockey Journey
Josef Marha started his professional hockey career in 1992. He was chosen by the Quebec Nordiques in the 1994 NHL Entry Draft. This meant he was picked to play for a team in the NHL, which is the top hockey league in North America.
He played in the NHL for teams like the Colorado Avalanche, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim, and the Chicago Blackhawks. In total, he played 159 games in the NHL. He scored 21 goals and made 32 assists, adding up to 53 points. While playing for the Chicago Blackhawks, fans sometimes called him the 'Captain of the 4th Line'.
In 2001, Josef decided to leave the NHL. He moved to Switzerland to join HC Davos, a team in the National League A (NLA). This was the top hockey league in Switzerland. He spent 12 successful years with HC Davos.
During his time in Switzerland, Josef helped HC Davos win the league championship five times! He retired from playing hockey with HC Davos on March 17, 2013.
After a short break, Josef decided to play hockey again in his home country. In April 2013, he signed a deal with HC Pardubice in the Czech Extraliga. Later that year, he moved to another Czech team, HK Hradec Kralove, before ending his career in 2014.
