Joshua Neville Carter, born on November 20, 1986, is a former professional basketball player from the United States. He played college basketball for Texas A&M. During his college years, he also played for the Athletes in Action basketball team. He helped them win the William Jones Cup in 2006. In the 2006–07 season, Josh was one of the best players in NCAA Division I for his amazing three-point shooting, making 50% of his shots. He holds the record for the most wins in Texas A&M men's basketball history, with a team record of 98 wins and 37 losses during his time there.

Early Life and High School Basketball
Josh Carter was born in Dallas, Texas, on November 20, 1986. His parents are Cedric and Kamela Carter. Josh has two older brothers who also played basketball. His brother, Warren Carter, became a professional basketball player. His other brother, Kevin Carter, played for Texas A&M–Commerce.
While playing at Lake Highlands High School, Josh showed great talent. In his junior year, he scored about 12.3 points and grabbed 5.6 rebounds per game. This earned him a spot on the all-district second team. In his senior year, he improved even more. He averaged 21.3 points, 6.9 rebounds, 4.9 assists, and 2.3 steals per game. He was named to the all-region and All-Greater Dallas teams. He also won the Most Valuable Player award for his district. The Richardson Morning News newspaper named him the city's Player of the Year.
Many colleges wanted Josh to play for them, including Illinois, Notre Dame, Texas Tech, and Washington State. In the end, he chose to play for Texas A&M. He signed a National Letter of Intent to play under coach Billy Gillispie.
College Basketball Journey
First Year at Texas A&M
Josh started playing for Texas A&M as a true freshman, which means he played in his very first year of college. He averaged 8.3 points per game and made 57 three-pointers. He scored his highest points in a single game that season, with 25 points against Texas. This happened during the 2006 Big 12 tournament. His team earned a spot in the 2006 NCAA tournament. In the postseason games, he averaged 14.3 points and made 55.5 percent of his three-point shots.
Second Year Success
In his second year, Josh Carter was one of the best three-point shooters in all of NCAA Division I. He made 50% of his three-point shots, which was a school record for Texas A&M. Because of his great performance, he was named to the All-Big 12 Honorable Mention team after the season.
Third Year Highlights
Josh continued to excel in his third year. The NABC coaches named him to the first team All-District 9 squad. He was also named to the All-Big 12 Honorable Mention team again. On April 24, 2008, Josh thought about entering the 2008 NBA draft. However, he decided not to hire an agent, which meant he could still return to college for his senior year. On May 21, 2008, he decided to withdraw his name from the draft and play his final year at Texas A&M.
Senior Year Records
Josh started his senior year strong, scoring 23 points in the first game against Arkansas – Pine Bluff. In the fourth game against UNC-Wilmington, he made his 233rd career three-pointer. This shot broke the school record for the most three-pointers ever made.
One of his most exciting moments was when he made a three-point shot at the buzzer against Nebraska. This shot gave his team a 57–55 victory. This win was very important for the Aggies' chances of reaching the NCAA tournament. After the Nebraska game, Josh scored a career-high 29 points at home against Iowa State. He also helped his team beat 12th-ranked Missouri in the last regular season home game. This win was his 97th career victory, making him the player with the most wins in Texas A&M history.
After the regular season, he was named to the All-Big 12 Third Team. Josh finished his college career with 1,566 points. At that time, this placed him seventh on the program's all-time scoring list. He also played in 135 games during his college career, which is another record for Texas A&M.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Josh Carter began his professional basketball career.
Playing in Europe
In 2009, Josh signed a contract with a German team called EWE Baskets Oldenburg. They played in the German League and the EuroLeague. He played there until the end of the 2009–10 season.
From 2010 to 2012, he played for Maccabi Ashdod B.C. in the Israeli Basketball Super League. In 2012, Josh moved to Russia to play for BC Spartak Saint Petersburg in the Russian Professional Basketball League. He was supposed to play there for two seasons. However, due to money problems with the team, Josh left early. In August 2013, he signed with an Italian team called Montepaschi Siena.
Later Career Teams
In the summer of 2014, Josh signed with Türk Telekom B.K. in the Turkish Basketball League. The next summer, in 2015, he joined another Turkish team, Pınar Karşıyaka.
On June 20, 2016, Josh signed with Dinamo Sassari in Italy for the 2016–17 season. On August 13, 2017, he moved to France to play for Limoges CSP.
In January 2019, Josh returned to Maccabi Ashdod B.C. for a second time, playing for the rest of that season. On March 18, 2019, he had a great game, scoring 26 points. He made 6 out of 8 three-point shots and also had four rebounds and two assists. This helped his team win 95–89 against Hapoel Tel Aviv.
Josh Carter's professional career ended in 2022 after playing for several teams across Europe.
