Warren Carter (born April 23, 1985) is an American former professional basketball player. He played as a center or power forward. Carter finished his career playing for Chorale Roanne Basket in France. Before becoming a professional, he played college basketball for the University of Illinois.

Early Life and High School Basketball
Warren Carter grew up in Dallas, Texas. He went to Lake Highlands High School in Dallas. During his time there, he was recognized as an All-State player twice. This means he was one of the best players in the entire state.
In his senior year of high school, Warren had amazing stats. He scored an average of 25.6 points per game. He also grabbed 12.3 rebounds and blocked 5.2 shots per game. These numbers show he was a very strong player.
College Basketball Journey
Warren Carter played college basketball for the University of Illinois. His time there lasted from 2003 to 2007.
Starting at Illinois
In his first year, called his freshman season, Warren did not play much. He appeared in 17 games. He averaged 1.2 points per game.
During the 2004–05 season, the Illinois team was very strong. They were ranked number one for most of the season. They even made it to the NCAA championship game. They finished as the NCAA runner-up, losing to North Carolina Tar Heels. Warren played in 33 games that season. He was a backup player for James Augustine and Roger Powell. He averaged 2.2 points and 1.8 rebounds per game.
Growing as a Player
In the 2005–06 season, Warren started to get more playing time. His scoring average went up to 4.8 points per game. His best game that year was on December 28, 2005. He scored 14 points against SE Missouri State. This was a great performance coming off the bench. He also started his first college game on December 18, 2005. This game was against Coppin State University. The Illini team also made it to the 2006 NCAA Tournament. Warren helped the team with 12 points in a first-round win. This victory was against the U.S. Air Force Academy.
Senior Year Success
Warren showed huge improvement in his senior year, the 2006–07 season. He started every game from the beginning of the season. He even led his team in scoring, averaging 13.0 points per game. He took on a bigger scoring role because of injuries to other key players. These players were Brian Randle and Jamar Smith.
On November 28, 2006, he had a "double-double" against Maryland. A double-double means he got double-digit numbers in two stats. He scored 13 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. In the very next game against Arizona, he had another double-double. He scored 24 points and got 10 rebounds. He also received the Big Ten Medal of Honor. This award is given to students who are great at both sports and academics. In 34 games that season, he averaged 13.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Warren Carter became a professional basketball player. He played for many teams in different countries.
Starting His Pro Career
Warren was not chosen in the 2007 NBA draft. However, he joined the Dallas Mavericks for the NBA Summer League. After that, he signed with Mutlu Akü Selçuk Üniversitesi in Turkey. He played there for the 2007–08 season. In 29 games, he averaged 18 points and 8.5 rebounds per game.
In 2008, Warren signed with CB Sevilla in Spain. In February 2009, he moved to BK Ventspils in Latvia. He helped Ventspils win the 2009 championship. In the final game, he scored 15 points, grabbed 15 rebounds, and blocked 4 shots.
Playing in Different Leagues
In July 2009, Warren joined the New York Knicks for the NBA Summer League. He signed with the Knicks in September but was later released.
On November 13, 2009, he signed with Ilisiakos B.C. in Greece. He played there for the rest of the 2009–10 season. He was even chosen to play in the 2010 Greek All-Star game.
On August 24, 2010, Warren signed with Hapoel Gilboa Galil in Israel. He played there for the 2010–11 season.
Later Career Teams
On July 16, 2011, Warren signed with Dexia Mons-Hainaut in Belgium. He left the team in March 2012. The next day, he signed with Elitzur Netanya in Israel.
On October 3, 2012, Warren signed with Antalya BSB in Turkey. He left that team in February 2013. In March 2013, he joined Trotamundos de Carabobo in Venezuela. He played 10 games there. In June 2013, he signed with San Carlos in the Dominican Republic.
On October 4, 2013, Warren signed with Ironi Nes Ziona B.C. in Israel. He left after 7 games in November 2013. In March 2014, he signed with the Otago Nuggets in New Zealand.
His last professional team was Chorale Roanne Basket in France. He signed with them in January 2015. Unfortunately, he got a shoulder injury in February 2015. This injury ended his season. In 19 games, he averaged 12.5 points and 5.7 rebounds per game.
Personal Life
Warren Carter is the son of Cedric and Kamela Carter. He has two brothers who also played college basketball. His brother, Josh, played for Texas A&M. His other brother, Kevin, played for Collin County Community College.
