Joshua Antron Chapman (born June 10, 1989) is a former American football player. He played as a nose tackle, which is a defensive player who tries to stop the other team's offense. Josh played college football at the University of Alabama. Later, he was chosen by the Indianapolis Colts in the 2012 NFL draft.
During his college years, Josh was a backup player to Terrence Cody. He was seen as a promising nose guard for his age group. Josh even appeared on the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine in 2011. This happened after Alabama won a big game against Florida.

Early Life and High School Football
Josh Chapman grew up in Birmingham, Alabama. He went to Hoover High School. There, he played high school football. His coaches thought he was the best defensive lineman the school ever had.
As a junior, Josh made 65 tackles and six sacks. He helped his team, the Hoover Buccaneers, win 14 out of 15 games. In his final year, he had 97 tackles and 22 tackles for losses. Hoover High finished as the state runner-up that season.
Josh was considered a good player by scouts. He chose to play for Alabama. He also had offers from other well-known colleges.
College Career at Alabama
Josh Chapman played college football for the University of Alabama from 2007 to 2011. He played under famous coach Nick Saban. In 2007, he played in three games before getting a medical redshirt. This meant he could play another year later.
Josh was a key part of two national championship teams at Alabama. The first championship was in 2009. Alabama beat the Texas Longhorns in that game. The second championship was in 2011. They won against the LSU Tigers.
Professional Football Career
In 2012, Josh Chapman was picked by the Indianapolis Colts in the NFL draft. He was the 136th player chosen overall. The Colts signed him to a four-year contract.
Unfortunately, Josh missed his first season due to an injury. In 2013, he played in 13 games. He made 20 tackles and defended one pass. The next year, in 2014, he played in all 16 games. He started 15 of those games. He finished the season with 25 tackles and forced one fumble. In 2015, the Colts decided to release him from the team.
After Playing Football
After his time playing for the Colts, Josh Chapman returned to the University of Alabama. He joined the coaching staff there. He worked as an assistant strength coach.
