José Luis Espert (born November 21, 1961) is an Argentine economist and politician. He is well-known for supporting ideas about economic liberalism in Argentina. This means he believes in things like free markets and less government control over the economy. He was elected as a National Deputy for the Buenos Aires Province in 2021. He started a political group called Avanza Libertad and later joined other political groups like Juntos por el Cambio and La Libertad Avanza.
Espert supports free trade, which means countries should trade with each other without many rules or taxes. He wants Argentina to trade more with the world. He also doesn't like Mercosur, a group of South American countries that trade together, because he thinks it limits Argentina's trade. He believes that some big companies or groups "devour the country" and wants to change the way the country works. Espert sees himself as a regular citizen and the main person speaking against Kirchnerism, a political movement in Argentina.

He studied economics at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). He then earned two master's degrees: one in economics from the University of CEMA (UCEMA) and another in Statistics from the National University of Tucumán.
His Career as an Economist
Espert started his career working at a company called Miguel Ángel Broda. There, he analyzed how money policies worked. Later, he became the chief economist at the same company. He also worked as an econometrist at Estudio Arriazu and was a partner at Econométrica S.A.
In 2000, he started his own company called Estudio Espert. This company helps businesses with advice on the economy and managing their money. He is also a member of the Argentine Association of Political Economy. Espert used to teach economics at the UBA and public finance at the UCEMA.

His Political Ideas
José Luis Espert often criticizes the economic policies of past governments in Argentina. He believes that the country needs big changes in its laws about work, taxes, and how the government works.
He thinks that the right to strike, which allows workers to stop working to demand better conditions, has gone too far. He also wants to privatize, or sell off, state-owned companies that are not working well. He also supports changing the retirement system to be more like the one in Chile, where people save their own money for retirement.
Espert signed a document called the Madrid Charter. This document was created by a Spanish political party called Vox. It describes left-wing groups in Ibero-America as enemies who are part of a "criminal project" linked to the Cuban government.
